Thats awesome Quachy, , Let me know the next time you feel like having a fish/harvest, could bring down my smoker and we could smoke some up.
I have just got my FT2 and GB2 on line today but probably too late to do my trout now. :dontknow:

Great family, great friends, great family and great wine! What moe can I ask for!

The trout was seasoned with salt, had thyme and butter in their cavity and baked at 190deg fo 25mins. Perfect!

We have been going to Trentham Maket every month for a while to stock up on what we can't grow at home and usually pick up 15kgs of apples for $25. Certified organic and all!
Anyway, made a beautiful apple pie fo dessert. The shortcrust was amazing, melt in mouth stuff and the apple was perfect. Damn Life is good!

Got the camera out in time before I forgot!

Something I must add is that the food was damn good, however the trout had white flesh instead of pink, which I know is due to the pellet feed instead of the wild crustaceans. That being said the taste was clean and slightly sweetish.

I will say though that wild caught trout, I think, has a slightly better flavour (I did say slightly), but the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that it is less the taste and more the experience of meadering up stream, casting, retrieving and soaking up all nature has to offer!

Maybe I need to make a running river at my place......

Dreams aside, our guest that came for dinner did make a comment that I was extremely proud of. Bear in mind he used to fish the apls regularly and bring home trout for breakfast lunch and dinner every weekend. He put in a mouthful of the trout and said, "That's awesome! Don;t you love it when you can eat something and have memories flooding back to you!"

I don;t know about you guys but that is a complement and a half for me, and I don't mind bragging about it!

Credit where credit is due eh.

It is those sort of compliments in life that allows us to forge ahead and forget the crap that normally disturbs our lives. Well done. :notworthy:

What feed are you using Quachy... I've found the Ridleys feed gives them a good "pink" colour....

Although when I think of it.... the smaller trout were "whitish".... until about 400+gm...

Hi Rup, I'm feeding them 4mm Lauke (spelling) barra feed. Does the Ridleys feed have the colouring in it?
