hey kwieland you mentioned a while back that your system was cycling and you had a good amount of nitrates in the water but the plants din't seem to be picking up, what is your system pH running at...?

Kieth, I'd love to see an updated picture of your plants [:

If I measure it on the normal pH scale it is >7.4, but on the high pH test it measures around 7.2. So somewhere in there. Supposedly that prevents a lot of plant function, and many people suggest supplementing with additional nutrients besides nitrates.

I've been tempted to get a pH meter, but I know that feeding a hobby can be a black hole!

hahaha that it can, same as an addiction ;]

But from what I've read on the forum nutrient lockout occurs at a pH of 7.6 or higher, how is your system doing now?

I had a lot of lettuce and spinach go to seed when we had a hot streak. Go figure - the sweetpeas are just starting to bear! I've planted some tomatoes and peppers, and they are starting to go. They only get about 5 hours of sunshine- noon to 5ish. I originally thought it was low iron, but chellated iron didn't really help it. I think it might be a trace nutrient issue, but I have not gotten any sea salts or stuff like that. Keith, what did you recommend, I forget? I should really start a thread, but it is "just another barrelponics" setup! Keith, how are your plants going now?

Sounds like you need to borrow a child to have them explain the camera to you :). Do you have a url for the online maxicrop with iron?

The one lone corn is not going to get pollinated, the other GB looks like it has too many (too close together).

I was thinking that,, so i transplanted a couple in the growbed with multiple just to see how they would do, (gotta move them when they are small!, corn roots grow fast/deep) it looks like the first 2 i moved are recovering, so now i am planning on moving a couple of the crowded ones over by the lonely one

the brussel sprouts i transplanted from the dirt seem to be doing well.. not sure about the beans i transplanted, but i already had several that are doing ok
