Because half of the parts did not arrive the weekend was mostly spent cleaning IBC's and levelling the other side of the block.

Got 8 IBC's filled with gravel, just waiting on the pumps and plumbing fittings now....

I know that my food grade IBC's are not UV protected. Are yours? If not, how long will they last before the sun degrades them and they become brittle?

I've had standard (non UV stabilized) IBCs in paddocks for 5 and a bit years for stock watering and they are not brittle yet. And we get more UV on a cloudy winters day here than corn belt USA does in full summer.

OBO, been wondering why you didn't put the IBC's side by side, effectively making one long one metre wide bed? At a metre wide harvesting/planting is not a problem and you could almost double the number of IBC's in a run. Also would mean no painting of the internal sides. I know you've got the space and it makes access a little easier but ......... :dontknow:

I am running my IBC's butted together because they will be in a green house, so I want to maximize use of the internal space. Also will wrap the run in foil and shade-cloth. But even when I run IBC's outdoors this summer, I will still butt them up against each other and create longer runs - bit like a conventional dirt grow bed.

I will be butting them together on the other side of the tanks. This side is sort of the pretty side so I have left it more open. Problem is getting hold of enough ibc's.

Maybe use the IBC's as the workhorses and get some pretty ones to go closer to the front. :D

I like the idea of sticking mesh between the IBC's, then you can grow vines and clambering plants like tommies, beans, peas, cukes, etc between the beds... Little archways even, so that you can pick them from in between the IBC's with plants growing right over the top of you.... :)

The whole perimiter is going to be meshed, so there should be plenty of vertical growing space. It's actually going to look pretty good when its finished :D Very happy with the result so far.
