Water still clearing, can't find anything unusual with water test results, must be the remains of dead yabbies, have a pond vac so will clean the bottom of tanks on weekend and see what happens over the next week, will then maybe try some more trout, this weather is ridiculous, 28 today and as low as 3 last night, don't weather to plant winter or summer veggies, winter will come soon enough no doubt

Now if you get a new kitchen you won't be going out eating all that terrible rich food, you'll have to stay at home and use the new facilities. So the new kitchen is required for health reasons... :)

I think I would still eat the naughty food EB, just need to remember the pills before the binge  why is it always the good tasting stuff is bad for you :dontknow: never seen anyone crook from eating Brussel Sprouts :puke:

Another half yabbie surfaced last night in the trout tank, I will pull everything out now and vac the tank, the buggers get in everywhere, after seeding season I am going to get cobbler for bottom feeders, leave the yabbies in the dams, they are great until this sort of thing happens, I think rick has written about it in his thread as well

Can see the bottom of tank almost so clearing nicely, I'm almost convinced things will be fine, will test water this arvo but I doubt there will be much to report, maybe, hopefully pH has gone up, dbird is getting trout soon so will get another 30 and run with those until SP in septemberish and after seeding has finished this way I will get a few cobbler to clean the bottom

To answer EB's question in Gemmells thread I think I will pass on the yabbies, the strange thing is that in my tank that didn't have trout I have Blue Marron and Western Minnows, now the water has cleared the Marron and Minnows appear fine :dontknow:

Trout in last night and all swimming this morning, tried feed and seemed to be taking it but was still a tad dark so will feed at lunch, Thanks don, don had an "ask the leyland brothers tour" coming home, don't think the directions worked TM :dontknow:
I am totally convinced that yabbies were the cause of poisoning the water

I'm still searching for my cause. My water is still really bad. Flushed everything out. I've been thinking extremes - we really need a way to "fix" a dead fish caught in pipes unreachable. What I was thinking was a mobile BSF army. They digest stuff really quickly, so if I had a bunch of them on hand, they'd be much better at locating it.

.... or rats. Seriously. I thought about borrowing a friends rat and putting it through my pipes. It'd eat the fish, or possibly just go to sleep next to it.

However it would be really nice if there was something which quickly metabolised dead/decaying things. Alas, there is probably not. I wonder if we could cultivate the stuff which breaks down proteins and have a booster pack on standby.

Thanks EB, all still breathing or whatever they do, a couple jumped for food but others waited for pellets to sink but they were getting them on the way down, but they have got this far.........would prefer them bouncing around as trout do, will see how they go once settled
