We own the name wespac...

had it since before the Bank of New South Wales became WESTPAC... (we complained and they said F#@K off....)

I still get emails telling me about armored car movements etc...

However they refuse to buy my business name for a reasonable sum....

www.wespac.com.au/banking for some fun :-)

Interesting AJ, are you a handling company or a bank basher  but you will never win with them,
Interesting story in the Sunday Times (unusual I Know) but 73,000 people have registered to recoup unfair fees, they need 1,000 to make worth going ahead, my mob the NAB have admitted they ripped off 16,000 customers, I hope the other 15,999 have also registered, the NAB dropped there late payment fee first, the reason "we hear our customers and know you don't like it" I have this in writing, what they should have said, "we have ripped millions off our customers and we are stopping before we get busted"

I'm waiting to see what happens with my credit card ATM. I paid the complete outstanding amount a week or two ago, but there was some interest due. So now I have a statement saying there was 15c of interest charges, now the CC is outstanding 15c, next payment due 15c.... I bet they will give me another $9 late payment fee if I don't pay the 15c now outstanding.... :upset:

:laughing3: I will guarantee they do, I have just read that NAB are now quietly repaying wrongly charged fees, I have just contacted them via online banking to see if I will be one getting a refund, I have let them know that I have registered with IMF, see what happens, the paper said they were repaying over 30,000 people

Here another good one from Mish (since I'm probably the only one here who reads his blog)
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot. ... rried.html
Main part here:
The survey by the Finance Sector Union showed that 29 per cent of its members felt uncomfortable about their customers' ability to meet their financial obligations with new debt products.

About 43 per cent said they were ''are under pressure to sell debt products, even if customers don't ask for them and may not be able to afford them''.

Worries from bank tellers and workers come as the total Australian mortgage debt for owner-occupied housing hit a record $774 billion in April, while debt for investment purchases totalled $330 billion, according to data from the Reserve Bank. Personal loans totalled $141 billion in April.

Of the major banks, Westpac-owned St George ranked the highest with 75 per cent of workers reporting an emphasis on debt selling. For ANZ and credit unions, 64 per cent of employees noted an increase in debt selling.

For Commonwealth Bank, 63 per cent of workers reported the debt-selling pressure, while 53 per cent of Commonwealth Bank-owned Bankwest employees reported the focus.

Less than half of National Australia Bank employees, or 49 per cent, said they had been instructed to push more credit on customers.

I wonder why they would do the exact same thing that our banks did? Oh wait - US banks made tons or short term profit, then were brought to the brink of insolvency, then tax payers bailed 'em out, shareholders & bondholder got their dividends, execs got millions in bonuses.
:upset:
That's what happened in Round 1. I think Round 2 might end differently.

Had several charges go through on a credit card using an expired date and wrong name.

Took me 3 months to get a refund, then somehow during the refund process the card was reactivated and the bank let it go to 28k when the card originally had a 5k limit. Another 3 months followed with them chasing me for money and me saying, no it was canceled! I think I was lucky in after the 1st month of arguing about the invalid details I closed my savings account and changed banks.
Eventually involved the Financial Ombudsman and problem solved in less than a week.

Not exactly related to banks but the other day left about a 100 dollars of shopping at the checkout. BigW in their infinite wisdom have blocked debit cards.
