We never assume that we have enough bug activity for pollinating the tomato flowers. We have a paint brush which is left in the greenhouse specially to do followup pollination.

This demo of pollinating tommies made me laugh. Someone needs to develop an electronic Bumble Bee.

I haven't said anything about that toothbrush earlier, but that really sounds kinda rough to me. Never heard of it either - is it at least a soft type?

Anyway, what is true in Naples mustn't necessarily be the case in Sevastopol. Btw: Russia and Ukraine do have amazing tomato varieties. There's nothing wrong with playing safe, but don't forget either: if you always help pollination (even outdoors), you'll never know if they wouldn't be able to do it all by themselves. I've never done anything mechanical or else to help tomatoes pollinate, and have never had any problems due to self-pollination failure outdoors. Just mentioning this because it is not uncommon, that old (or local) habits and commonly used procedures kinda enigmatically over role some other face of reality. I don't know about Australia but we all know, that the old world of gardening and farming (among others) was full of ancient cock-and-bull stories that have survived the ages

Just kidding, - everyone should do as she/he pleases.

I am good with that - but if it would happen to you to have 100+ plants 2-3 meter tall, to take care of, I bet you'd leave the fetish part out of the equation

No wonder, as I've actually improvised it 8)

I'm good with both. Actually I didn't censor myself, but c.ock was replaced by *Butterflies* without my agreement by some forum script. Honestly! You know in Thailand people use to be extremely polite and correct in public, but as blunt and "direct" among family and friends as in other parts of the world. Same-same for most terms: vulgarity doesn't come from the term itself, but was invented by moralists with second thoughts

I have vented about the foolishness of the word being banned in the venting corner... Hopefully the mods will change it and we'll be able to crow cock-a-doodle-do! to our hearts content! heh, I wonder if doodle is banned

The "good people of Thailand" are all smiles and happiness UNTIL you learn the language. Some are just fake
( SOME !!! )
The comments and discussions regarding foreigners ....., mainly spoken in LAOS language would make a sailor blush.
But then again , I do frequent the less morally correct parts of Thailand:)

What was that about tooth brush's?

Something went wrong with that quoting indeed (when using quotes from two different postings) - the "authors" are all mixed up. I can't blame the forum soft for that I guess, it rather goes on me! But than again if I'd like to correct or edit that mess, the configs wouldn't allow it. :|

Bill: That link really helped put the whole thing in perspective. Thanks!
And Ian : Yes! I love these forums too! You forgot the South Africans and a few other countries!! lol!
Back to the topic: I think "lack of pollination" wins this round! cause I noticed the beginnnings of two toms on two flowers this morning!
Yipee!
Rupe: A nice soft old brush it shall be!

In my opinion, calling SOME of them fake, isn't actually the most accurate way to put it. Mostly it's indeed not what it seems to be to people with different cultural background and behavior. Let me put it that way: for a Farang (foreigner) it takes time to make the difference between a happy, welcoming or charming smile, - and a so called *screw-you-smile*. But there's even much in between that has to be discovered eventually. For Thai people it also takes time to make the difference between real anger of a foreigner and a quickly passing nervous breakdown caused by too much moon shine and a chronic cultural chock.

You are right, some Northeastern farmer's daughters can be really blunt and "djai dam" when they are among themselves. But than again it really depends on the sailor if he'd actually blush or not... if ever he understood
What is actually discussed behind the scenes, really depends on the sailor (actually the individual) they're talking about. Because if it happens that you do not fit into the common cliché and they decide that you are a nice chap, - there will not be much lao gossip or malicious paraphrasing about you. There will be rivalry only - but than again I'm not sure if that would sound like royalty-chat :D

Any thoughts on spacing for tomato plants. In dirt it's 18" for the small ones, 24" for larger ones. I've read that in hydro they do 10"

How have people spaced them in AP?
