Hi Guys,

Its confirmed that i will have the fish on 5:45pm Friday.

So here is what i propose to do to acclimatise them.
Firstly get the box home and open it up
Open up the one or two bags and insert the air-stones into each bag (set on low).
Then put a small amount of water 200-500ml from the tank into it and leave it for ??30min?? (to acclimatise for PH/water quality)
    Repeat
    Repeat
The seal the bags and let them float on the water surface (to acclimatise for temp) for ?1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 hours?
    Then set them free.
Wait 2 days-ish and feed a very(1 tbl spoon) little and see how they take it.

How does that sound for a plan of attack?

Hi every one,

Got the fish last night and geez they are small.
Also i cut up the foam box they came in and have put that on the water of the tank and then put a 90% shade cloth over the top to, hopefully, stop some evap.

I feed 1 table spoon of crushed up barra pellets and could not see any action. Mind you the water is pretty green.

I guess we will see ove rhte next week or so if the little barra survived. Hope fully the water quality will clean up now that i have the shade cloth over it and the foam over the area that did get a couple of hours of direct-ish sun.

Also it seems that the is two other people that are doing AP up here in Karratha. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: As we were all in a rush to get our Fish home we didnt have much time to talk. Both seemed like nice people and i asked them to contact me so we could swap notes.

I was not sure if they vist the forum or not, but i would love to talk more to them and see how they combat the problems of heat etc up here.
So guys, if you are reading this please PM me and i would love to talk. :wave1: :thumbleft:

Hi Guys,

I have not heard from the AP'ers up here, shame. come on guys.

Water test show that there is something going on

Amm is .50
PH is 7.0
rite .025
rates 0
I feed one level tablespoon of crushed barra food.

I am going to test the water tommorrow around 4pm, and i will probably not feed as i think the amm will be up.

here are the levels
AMM: 0.50
PH: 7.0
Rate: 5.0
Rite: 0.25 (just)

amm levels seem to stay at 0.50 with light feeding once a day.
also this is the first time i have seen RATES that are definatly above 0
(and rate are what the plant feeds on right?)

I pulled the cover off the tank and all the foam out and was able to see the bottom. Much less suspended particals and algy on the sides of the tank.
As for fish, I was able too see a couple of them, but still no action when i fed lightly.
Correction: I went back out and i could see them going for the "falling" food, but not the floating stuff.
Also there was no floaters either.

Leave the foam off, just leave the cover on the tank... the foam is probably deterring the fish from feeding at the surface...

Steady as you go... don't be tempted to feed more, or make any other changes at the moment...
