Guys

I now have my 2 x IBCs and looking for the hardware to feed this baby

Just look at getting a few things from guppysaquariumproducts as they look quite reasonable. Whats your thoughts of the following, to see if its "matched" and allows for further expansion? I will have the 1 x IBC for a FT (1000 litres) and the other will be for 2 x 300 litre GT. Also have a 500 litre ST separate. I will get more IBC's soon (next 4 - 6 weeks) and will add 4 to 6 more GB before I make another FT (join 2 together - 2000 litre FT). Fish will be trout

Air pump

Air Stones
Mixture of 25 mm to 50 mm http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... d_273.html
Are Air curtains any value? http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... od_89.html

Sub Pump
http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... od_71.html

Will use 19 mm (3/4) PVC for the inlets and 25 mm (1 inch) for the returns. Will also build 2 x Affnans Bell Siphons

I understand I will need to look at redundancy for aeration and may just get http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... d_383.html as well to cover me for a while.

Thoughts? :?:

Pump is fine, you can get a much lower wattage air pump like 10wt that does same or more air and cheaper, air curtains are ok but stones are much better, 6" rectangle one seem the best but up to you, if you were going to spend that much on 2 air pumps I would go for an OTTO that runs off 240 and battery when power fails, just on pumps remember that the higer the head height the less flow, so even with 1.2m head your LPH will half, visit here and pick a pump http://www.rockaroundtheblock.com.au/pd.html?Model= the numbers relate to what the LPH is, select head and pipe lengths and your true LPH will be shown, always by a bigger pump that you require as 9/10 people will expand, pump is fine for 1 IBC but if you expand to 2 then you need another pump
25mm maybe too small as return line most people use 40mm, my 20c worth anyhow

Do not use 25mm returns. Misery will abound.

I use 40mm return, can't complain about the flow. Empties 250 litres just over 3 mins.

Hey Erich.

Did you end up getting this setup? Are your GBs lower than your FT?

Thanks,
Thefishingangler

sorry for the delay

Setting it up now - just finished cleaning and cutting up the 2 IBC's, will post some picks soon. The FT is higher than the GT - as needed for a CHOP system

FYI - im basing it on a system that stretch has like viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7382&p=229195#p229195. Will be using a 500 litre round container 1/2 dug in for the sump + 1 IBC for FT (approx 900 litres) and 2 x 300 litre GB. Getting another 2 IBCs in 4 - 5 weeks will be 4 more GBs

Cheers :wave1:

Those air pumps are pretty loud, I hope the system is a long way from the house (and the neighbours house). I regret buying mine, but if you dont mind a loud airpump you can buy mine (a larger one, 90lt) at a reduced price and I will even deliver for free.

You must have a faulty air pump KEII... or you're a really light sleeper...

My AC008 (12 outlet) is underneath my bedroom... and about 10mtrs from the neighbours bedroom...

They've never complained... and I find the very faint hum... reassuring...
