Bank gave me a fancy key ring that has a code that changes every minute. When you do an online transfer it asks for that number. So key logging can get them into my online banking but they have to come see me to get the current code.

Rupurt - I know you're pretty paranoid about technology, you must have been beside yourself back in the day doing phone banking sending unobscured DTMF tones down the PSTN! Thank goodness for encryption, at least now the old duck next door can't tap you phone line, but you do have to worry about the hackers.

Nope Mr. Orange... you have me completely wrong.... for many years I contracted to clients like WD & HO WILLS, LEND LEASE, CSR, KELLOGS, DEPT OF HEALTH, DEPT OF TAFE & others... as a VMS Systems Manager.

One of my major roles was the implementation of new, then cutting edge technologies... and security... and I constanly keep myself up to date with emerging technologies and products

I probably no more about "hacking"... than you've had hot dinners.... and the ways available to do it...

Technology doesn't scare me.... dumb people do... hackers, crooks, teenage nerds & "shady" agencies... love dumb people...

Jezz, even my son when he was 15, could drive around in the car with me with a program running that registered every wireless modem in the area... and identified which ones were unsecured.... usually about 90%... you could hear them going off "bing, bing, bing" as we drove past...

He also had tools, freely available that let him connect and use the persons computer to download stuff to his laptop...

He used to get his mother to back her car about 50mtrs up the road when he visited her... so he log onto the net via someones network...

You miss my point entirely.... mobile tower data transmission is NOT secure... the encryption on most peoples computers, and mobile devices... isn't worth much more than a paper bag full of cold water...

Even the papparazzi know how to monitor & record peoples mobile transmissions... and decrypt emails....

If you think anything less.... then you are one of the aformentioned people...

One of the reasons for employing such methods Duff... is precisely because the banks know that mobile online transactions... aren't secure...

I have the same systems in place for all my online transactions... banking, credit card transactions... even my own payments...etc...

And yep MrOrange... knowing how insecure the old systems were... I never conducted online transactions... until such time as the banks put in place certain measures... and offered gaurantees of security...

Apologies if I've offended Mr Orange... but it really gets my goat how willingly people assume that their private details are still private... and secured...

It just simply isn't the case...

The ones above are unlocked Milne... not tied to any one network, or network plan.... just top-up the relevant sim with a pre-paid credit...

If I was you Milne and you want a cheap phone, I'd go for a cheap or second hand "Branded" phone like a Nokia or similar. Buying a Chinese import phone off ebay that's a IPhone look alike no-brand is asking for trouble I reckon.

You don't really need nextG unless you go bush a bit and want faster downloads and better reception in fringe areas. If your reception is good enough for you now, now need to go nextG really
