Rats...iPhone/safari don't like ning.com. Guess I have to wait until work tomorrow. I'm excited - sounds great!

Apparently I'm on safari now and the site came up. You might have been unlucky or I could be some sort of computer guru. They are great picks. I know what I'm doing next! (NEXT? :sign5: Better remind myself I'm only 2 beetroot and a turnip into my first attempt).

Two beetroot and a turnip sounds like a decent start. :thumbright:

Yes, the media is reusable. I've planted into it wet and freshly pulled and I've dried them. When drying, the roots dessicate and are easily removed by flexing the material. If I want it really sterile, I'll dry it for 3 or 4 days, flex the material, then blow it out with compressed air and steam sterilize. Usually though I just dry it for a couple days, flex it and scrape it a little (about a 30 second process) and then re-plant. All of the crop plants I've used were no problem, but the barley was a bit hard on the material- too dense and woody. I can usually get 6 months out of my material pretty easily (depending on how abusive I am), and then when I'm done with it, it can be recycled.

I think I'll get up a system thread today. . .

Thanks for the welcome everyone. It's cool how many folks are over here that I've bumped elbows with here and there. Thanks for the complements too, I've been getting so much negativity lately. . . it's quickly making me very anti-establishment.

Its a small world, Ive just spent a few hours that should have been asleep browsing your other domain and its pleasantly surprising to confirm that the earth really does have different timezones, may even be a sphere and people on the other side may not just be a myth science teachers promote.

I think you will find a greedy market in oz for your product if for no other reason than your basil.

I know thats not really a sentence but it still means something.

N8!!!

DUDE!! That totally rocks!! :headbang: :headbang:

I've got extra nutes and pondering how to use your excellent system to take up a sunny corner of my GH!! Wow!

What exactly do you use for media? I saw it in the pics, but maybe read the thread too fast to catch it.. Have to go back and read again, but first must wipe the drool off of my keyboard!!

And, no! You are not crazy. That is an awesome leap forward in simplicity for vertical/small footprint growth!
