I suppose around Canberra way... a leek can be made into spring onion... or vice versa... if need be...

A mate did me a favour a few weeks ago... so I repaid him with a big bag of beetroot, celery, eggplants, spring onions, chillies, rosemary, thyme, oregano, basil, veitnamese coriander... and a trout for each of the family...

1.5kg, gutted & gilled... and check out the roe that was in one of them...

We get onions like that around here. It seems to be what happens when you plant the wrong day length onions in our hot climate. They never bulb up and grow huge.

Had a planned power outage today... supposedly from 08:30 - 15:30...

While I trusted my battery backup aeration was good for the time... didn't have anything in place for the Barra tank.... and wanted to be able to turn the water over as well...

So hired a generator to run things during the outage....

And just as well too.... power wasn't reconnected until nearly 20:00 tonite...

While drilling the hole for a new pole.... the Integral Energy contrators.... drill straight through the water main..... duhh....

A bit of careful planning meant that switching to the genie... and back later.... was merely a matter of two power cords and a power board.... to run all three systems, both water and air pumps...

Had to refill the genie with petrol every two hours or so, and the extended outgae meant I had to can a work shift this evening... but all is well...

No fish were harmed during the course of this story...

It's been an interesting weekend...

With a mini-cyclone predicted for southern NSW over the weekend... 1200 trout to pickup and deliver... and a tonne of feed to deliver...

Got through picking up the trout, delivery the bulk of them and the feed on the Saturday...

Awoke on Sunday expecting to postpone the Sydney deliveries and batten down the hatches... but the low hadn't arrived overnight... and there were patches of blue sky...

Departed for Sydney... and heard on the radio that Ulladulla had been flattened by 100+kph winds...

Did the drops... and got home just on dark... had to put about 200 trout into a holding tamk overnight...

Got slammed by the wind, and intermittant blackouts from midnight through to dawn...

Smashed the trout tank cover (again)..... and ripped the airline out of the holding tank.... 200 dead fingerlings... few trees down... and tons of debris everywhere...
