I have 4 IBC's that I am going to start a system with.
I am going to gravity drain from the FT to the GB's.
What size pipe should I use for the drains (overflow)?
Thanks,
Eric

Welcome aboard Ebeacham... if you're going to setup a Chift Pist system... then most people suggest going to about 80mm for the outlet pipe... that's about 3.15" for you guys...

50mm (2") would be the smallest you could get away with.... remember, you're feeding by gravity to your growbeds with slow flow...

Even if you're pumping back to your fish tank with a high volume pump... the size of your overflow pipe to the growbeds will limit the flow available to the growbeds...

I have two 2 inch pipes for overflow out of FT. They keep up with half the water from the pump, I divert the rest back to the sump with a T right off the pump. No with gravel in, the GBs fill in about 3 minutes and drain in about 4.
