Daily evaporation rates are on the BOM site here : http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/IDCJD ... test.shtml Was 12mm on the first, only 6mm yesterday.

Of course there is then is the plant transpiration rates to take into account as well as the increased evaporation/spray drift from your water fall bits...

So that would be 12mm/6mm over all the surface area, but condensed into the sump as the sum of total evap.
IE 50 sq mtr - average 9mm per day = 450 ltrs or a percentage of about 2.5% for the total system of 18000ltr
Inclusive 8 x GBs and 3 ponds average of 5700ltrs

Have you got any shade over the tanks?
Also holes in tanks are hard to spot with the soil , at least in Perth anyway , very hungry soil ,
are the fish tanks raised?
Think my tank my has a small leak through the seams as it is roll groove zinc.

Hope your water is free

Hi Coopa
all tanks are concrete set in the ground and are covered temp has been 20c
It appears i am loosing 8mm per sq/m a day due to evaporation
Nothing in this world is free :funny1:
I was concerned that i had a leak however it apears to be evaporation
Regards, Eagle

I have a tap that leaks a little so I put the hose into the pool and now I don't have to top up the pool. Will fix the leak if it get worse.
