The water never penetrates beyond the top 10cm of the soil here, because it has such a high clay content. Even the walls of the tank hole are dry just inside the crust. With the tank kept full of water, and the hole backfilled I'll be fine. Also going to run a drain line out into the yard at ground level.

The only reason this happened was because I was keeping the water level low while I was waiting for the new pump. Also thought that cycling would be a bit quicker with less water to get bacteria up.

It's still raining lol, bureau reckons 5mm since 9am, place is under water, way more than 5mm. Yard looks like a mud bogging pit.

Fish took food this evening very well though, so thats a good sign. So glad I took that walk at 2.30 :headbang:

Good thing you went for that walk Col. I could well imagine what a mess it would have been with all that loose wet sticky red clay. Ah well, better now than later.

It is a very interesting venture Colin, you can't let the side down with any more mishaps!! Keep up the good work.

Probably be more effective though because it wasn't designed by an engineer

Yea if it was designed by an engineer they would get somebody else to fix it and take the blame

Trout season has begun :)

Drove down to Bunbury over Easter, and collected 1000 Trout from Gavin. Got them back home after 9 hours in the tank, 100% survived in 500 litres of water, no oxygen was used.

It was going to cost me nealry $500 to hire a two axle trailer for easter, so I decided to spend that many on new tyres for my trailer. Got 8 ply light truck tyres, they dont bulge at all.

Adding 250 Trout at a time.

Plenty of air from the battery inverter powered aerator.

Holding tanks for fish that are being onsold.

Pretty fishies.

Had an awesome day for transporting fish. The outside temp did not exceed 22 the whole way, there was no sunlight all day. Fish tank was at 18 most of the way.
