When I was at TAFE we used to use Clove Oil to sedate the fish whenever we were going to grade them. It worked a treat and they all seemed to recover ok in a couple of minutes.

Yeah, that’s what I was getting at, cant seem to find a source for it though (BTW, in higher doses it is used to euthanize fish, be careful with the dose)

Clove oil can be found here with potpourri or fragrance supplies. It's not really used in baking here--which is what I would have thought.

some chemists stock clove oil, and with the aquaculture equivilent (AQUI-S which is basically clove oil) there are no legal requirements of a witholding period (as apposed to say Benzocain, which is 300 degree days or something like that)

Yeh guys, just to confirm - clove oil is used even by the "big" guys...

i.e. that's the secret ingredient that "Taylor Made" uses when they harvest
