Price and power consumption :D

Just curious if anyone has come across more efficient submersible pumps.

Oase have a long history of supplying quality pumps and filters to the koi afficianados... and koi are a dirty fish....

Their products are normally more pricey than other suppliers.... but the quality and durability are usually excellent...

Couldn't see prices on their site, maybe they don't want to scare everyone. :D

I have seen those ones around but they dont have enough head height to hold the spider closed. Need around 4m of head capacity.

I needed at least 5m head, so went for the 750AV model, but not the supplier! Found it at my local AP supplier at lot cheaper.

Cheapest I can find :)

16,000lph @ 160Watts!!!
$460 delivered to Kal.

Going to have 4 of these running, so power costs are one of my bigger expenses. This pump would pay for the extra purchase cost within a year.

EB's commercial system used a large volume / low wattage pump - have you asked him what it was? It's probably the same one (or one very similar).

Must be this one or the next size down, nothing else comes close. EB can confirm?

Similar, we went with the pond max ultra series. 12,000L/h, and 175W...

On another note I am officially throwing Ebara pumps into the "Bad ones" basket. When I started using them many years ago I found them to be pretty reliable, but it seems that they have slowly been going downhill over time. Over the past 12 months or so we have been having a lot come back to us with various problems. Of course we replaced every one of them that was within the warranty period, and then when the local Ebara rep finally came to pick up the bad pumps, we had collected 14 stuffed pumps.

He took them away, then two weeks later he sent us an email saying that he didn't think any of them were warranty items and if we wanted him to investigate any of the pumps further, it would cost us $75 for him to investigate each pump. A day or two after receiving the email we had a courier come and drop off the 14 pumps back to us, they were in pieces thrown into a couple of big boxes.

According to his email, 9 of them had blown capacitors internally, I wrote to him explaining that surely that would be a warranty item, but I've received no response to a couple of emails I've sent... In his initial email he stated that he thought by looking at the serial numbers on them that most of the pumps were probably in operation for 13-18 months and not within their 12 month warranty period. No allowance for the fact that it took him almost 6 months to come and pick them up, and that we had seen everybody's receipts when we replaced their pumps...

Anyway, as you can imagine we are extremely unhappy with them, and now out of pocket to the tune of thousands of dollars. Of course we now no longer sell the Ebara pumps... We are now selling Grunfos pumps, as well as the pond max and aquapro we have always sold.

Unlike Ebara, we are willing to honour all warranties and even go a bit further.

Now we know how far down hill they have gone, and the fact that they can be prone to breakdown, we don't want anyone to lose fish because of poor pump quality. If anyone has an Ebara pump bought from us within the last 18 months, we are willing to offer a few different options. You can either have another Ebara pump for no cost, but this will not be covered by any form of warranty at all. Or you can have either an 8000L aquapro pump, or either of the grundfos pumps we have available, at our cost price, and these will be covered by warranty.

Any queries send a PM or email, or drop by the shop with your receipt...
