Johnnie,

bought some duckweed and azolla from ebay LOL

I was buying an aquarium plant for my community tank, and saw that there was no extra postage for extra items, and he was selling duckwwed and azolla.

I have heaps od chicken poo left in the shed from when i had chooks, so i might make some tea and see if i can grow myself some food :)

Might hold off on the worms for a while. Where should i check if its ok for you to send me some? Just so we know for when i'm ready

thought I would update you on my silver perches from the pet shops. I have so far had a 100% succes rate with mine, Sorry veggie boy. Where did you get yours from? I got mine from two different pet shops and both have done wonderfully well. The first lot are now starting to compete with the goldifsh for the food, which is a good sight. they have roughly doubled in size

The second lot are still a little scared but now have yabbies and bristlenose catfish for company. the catfish were added both because I like catfish but also they are in the process of cleaning the algae from the sides of the tub, they had one side of the tub completely clean in a day.
will post some photos once I find my camera

I believe that I got mine from the same place as your first lot - the big pet shop on stafford road. Maybe timing was the difference. I wnet back a couple of weeks after I bought my first lot, and believe me you would not have bought them at that stage. Heaps were dead and lots were flashing and the rest were scrawny as.

The six of mine that survived are doing well. I have been watching them heaps (you know how it is) and this afternoon I could have sworn that the larges one had grown 20% since this morning :? . I'm not shitting you, I reckon 20% is a conservative figure. This is really weird. Anyway they are going well. Where did you get your second lot from Nick & how much were they. I am ready to get some more. I will check the joint at stafford again in case they have replenished the stock.

i got my first lot from pet city at mt gravatt, for my like they sell better fish as a norm, the one on stafford road always seems a bit dodgy. Yeah my silver perch are now as long as my golfish but my goldfish are now so fat it is not funny. Make sure you call pet city as I don't think they get the silver perch in regularly. They were somewhere around 10 for $13. Yeah I watch mine a lot. My barra are getting big which is cool.

I will wait till the silver perch are bigger and then will hopefully get some more barra and maybe some murray cod from the place down at beenleigh. I am really keen to get murray cod. I like how they look.

Murray also plans to buy Murray Cod. What are the pros and cons of them as an aquaponics fish. Growth rate, feed coversion rate, temperature needs, taste etc.

Slow growth is a disadvantage as could be the temperature issue. Are they less tolerant to higher temperatures. I think that in Queensland keeping temperatures down in summer could be as significant as keeping them up in winter.
