Has anyone installed any 1 1/4" uniseals? I had real trouble getting the pipe in. It was defiantly to small. I had to cut the pipe so I could squeeze the tip in then I had to drive it in with a hammer. It bulged the tank out when I drive it in.

I would not recommend this size! Its wrong.

I assume you used the recommended hole saw? Odd: I managed to install a 2" pipe in a fitting with, I think, some spit to help (hey! It can't be worse than most things one might use! I did have some aloe growing a couple feet away but don't know how that might affect fish..). Well, see if you can find out what hole size works or, perhaps, we should simply avoid those fittings....

This link (among others) lists the hole sizes for different sized seals:

Yes, I had the correct size hole saw. It was clear to see that the pipe was to big for the seal, but I made it work anyway, lol.

Does anyone know if someone in WA is stocking uniseals now? I know I could not find anyone six months ago and the local watershed did look at bringing them in but the big boss decided not to.

I think a while back some one posted some info about the international distributor but I didn't pay much attention as I can get them locally for about the same price as buying from them plus shipping. I wonder where that link/thread went, unless it is somewhere further back in this thread

Thanks TC, I do have their details somewhere but I only want three and I want to walk into a store and buy them this week so I can get a few things done pre Christmas. Otherwise I will just use the drain outlets I already have.

Look up some Hydroponics stores. In the past I used to find reference to "top hat grommets" in hydroponic circles. Usually used for plumbing bucket systems together. However, they were usually small, like for 1/2" to 3/4" pvc and I was never able to find them locally myself till I discovered Aquatic Eco Systems and the Uniseals.

Will try tradelink and Galvins as I am after 25mm and 40mm. If I have to order I will wait till after Christmas and get them direct from the US.

For anyone wanting smaller tophat type gromets, Mazega's Mitre 10 in Kelmscott has them, 3/4 inch I think.

We have 2 left of the 50mm... They cost us around $10 each to get them here, you can have them for that if you want them.
