Whenever I plant a habanero into the AP system, it kind of burns off at the tips slowly down toward the main stem and then just dies.

I suspect too much nutrients?

Water too high in GB?

Jalapenos in same GB growing good, producing heaps, but the plants are staying smallish, and not Bushing up like they do when too much fertiliser added in dirt garden.

Has anyone had luck growing the habanero in their AP system?

As luck would have it, I still have a dirt plant going, which makes my chili sauce sing, but not quite as much as I would have liked.

Thanks

Aj

I grew habaneros no problem at all in my system at home. PLant was very productive and lasted at least a couple of years.. I think we might have one in a grow bed here at the shop, I'll check with Mitch where it is and see if it's still growing..

I've put a habanero into my system far too early to tell how it will go yet. I do have high hopes, I've harvested around 4kgs from the plants in the ground.

Freeze them initially, then make them into tasty sauces.

We had a drink fridge when I was based in the track maintenance area, I used to rub chilli on random can of soft drink. You'd see someone have a sip and there mouth would start burning. They'd then drink more to try and get rid of it only making it worse.

Have a mate who has a few beers and then decides he is a wizz at the harmonica. He certainly played a great tune the night we rubbed chilli on it!! Poor Mick.

ajajaj, I gotta say that my habos have been very slow in AP. Hanging in there but very stunted growth. No bigger than 15cm but also noted that habo in dirt garden has not produced this summer. No growth and no fruit! Whereas serrano has taken off in AP and is about half metre high but with no fruit. Thai chilli and black pearl in dirt garden have done well in production for second summer.

My Jalapenos produced like crazy, but my dirt garden Jalapenos (second year) produces insanley crazy. The AP jalapenos just produced and did not grow the plant, but they were first year plants.

I must take some photos of these Habaneros, as the dirt plants (first year) have absolutely gone nuts, and are now producing decent amounts of fruit (now that the weather has cooled it will stop)

Anyway - thanks guys
