Thats a mighty impressive system, especially the SketchUp rendition. I just downloaded it this morning to help me design mine. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Guys. Hopefully tommorrow I can find my camera and take some more photos.

Took me a while to work out sketch-up, but once you get use to it, it's pretty handy.

Ive been playing with it designing my next system

Here's a pic

Dan

Sketchup is a bit confusing to start, I agree, but as you show us it can be really useful. Is your new system using a 1st FT to 2 GB to 2nd FT to NFT pipes into a sump water flow? I couldn't see where all the pipes went and was wondering.

Hey bhliegh,

I was thinking 1 ft to the beds to take out the solids then into 1st sump. Couldn't decide if it should be a ft. from there to the nft, into the nft sump then back to the ft. I just have to work out how to to get some constant flow to the nft and flood and drain to the gb's

Not as fun to duck under pipes but if they run along the ground and then go up the solids stay in the bottom of the pipe.

Hi Dan
It could work with Chift Pist.
constant slow drain from the grow beds to the sump through the NFT
then a float activated switch on the pump in the sump to pump back to the FT and so flood the grow beds. It would possibly work better with two sumps and it may preferable anyway to have two seperate systems from a safety and quarantine point of veiw. There would also need to be some auto top up or other safety device to make sure the sump pump started every cycle once the grow beds where empty (maybe put the float switch in the grow bed instead of in the sump)

looks like a nice system and great use of sketch up
