Amazing how well the Murray Cod can hide in the tank. We have around 60 and you never see them.

I netted a couple to see how they are going. I couldn't catch the big one as he was just too quick but he would be double the size of these ones.

Thats cos he's been eating the other ones. :shark:
They are a nice fish, been thinking of trying some in higher numbers. The one I have sits on the botton of the tank, you can even pat him. But he is the fastest fish when he has company.

Yeah they are a lot slower... but thats part of my plan. I have the murray cod in the 1000lt tank. They will stay there for as long as they are happy swimming around keeping my system ticking over. Then in my large tank I will do trout over winter and maybe barra over summer.

The Murray's will be my system stabiliser during periods of downturn of the other fish.

Tells you what, if the murray cod are half as boring as the golden perch I have, I don't think it's WORTH it.

The cod are boring but they are doing what they are supposed to do. They are known to hide in the wild, so I'm not fussed.

Our trout gamble has paid off and we have had trout in the tank for around 4 weeks now... I forget just how quick they grow and how exciting they are.

Planted a heap of heritage seeds today. Aquadulce Broad Bean, Purple Podded Pea, Purple Dragon Carrot, Medio Enana de la Halle Brussel Sprouts, Cherokee Wax Butter Bean, Red Russian Kale, All Red Leaf Amaranth, Superschmelz Kohl Rabi, Autumn Giant Leek and Sicilian Violet Cauliflower.

Should be exciting to grow some of these "new" old varieties and see how how they taste. All winter crop to keep in line with the seasons and planted around 6 weeks after the last lot of seeds.

Trying to keep a few weeks between things so we eventually get to the point where we are constantly harvesting.

My daughter has been singing Jingle Jangle scarecrow for the last few weeks so we decided to make a scarecrow today for the aquaponics garden.

She loved making it and its a great piece of the garden.
