I think your "drawing a long bow" to quote from 1784 when we are talking 2010 internet pop culture and terminology.. Someones online avatar can pretty much consist of anything animated or still, scene captures from television or movies, it's all out there and people are doing it.

But if you want to tell them they are not avatars, but rather animated gifs assigned a place of where an avatar would usually sit. You go right ahead..... :)

I like to keep you on your toes KP, someone has to fix my stuff ups, or at least tell me about them....

EB I was a lot like you... I was like, Avatar's prolly not that good ... people just go for hype things and whatever..
But I got dragged into the 3-D showing... and OMG I was amazed. the story and the characters are so so, but the rest... it's worth it. Go and See it. Do not Disappoint yourself missing out on seeing it at the movies... it's better at the movies.

hahaha Rupe... specialised TV for 3-D oooooh I wonder if they're hard to make coz if they are, they'll be pricey at first... it'll prolly be like 4-5 years before anyone can afford them ;)

They're easy to make. The glasses you'll have to wear wont be cheap though.
As I understand it (and it's only by word of mouth, so forgive me) instead of 3 pixels (red green and blue) per dot on the screen, there will instead be 6 pixels. (adding almost read, almost blue and almost green)
2D this will look exactly as you are used to, but if playing a 3D, there will be two images. The glasses then filter all but RGB from one eye, and almost RGB from the other.
No fancy expensive screens to reflect light back without de-polarising or anything.
I'd really like it if somebody with a technical background could confirm this for me though - I'm just too apathetic to research it.

Are you human?: yes?

After doing some research on the Avatar movie I noticed it was produced in four different 3D formats (REALD 3D, DOLBY 3D, XPAND 3D AND IMAX 3D) and also in 4D, and after watching it at a local cinema in 3D, I thought the 3D wasn't as good as what I had experienced in the Imax theatre at Darling Harbour Sydney. So I am assuming 3D TV's when they come out will be at the lower end of the 3D experience? By the way, a great movie in any format, I see a real message there regarding the Human race.
