EB, when your flood and drain system pumps into the grow beds, how far down the fish tank does the water level drop ? Does it pump down/out in one cycle then gradually get topped back up from the sump tank as the grow beds drain ? Or is a series of small pump cycles ?
I am trying to get an idea as to how far the pump float switch needs to travel.

my folks are traditional coles shopping centre style sceptics, but even they had a second look when I showed them these photos. Impossible to know if they were impressed, it's like getting blood out of a stone, but they certainly looked twice. Maybe they will start to listen to me when I say this thing will work....
Thanks Joel

Murray, the water level drops about a third of a tank when it pumps out into the growbeds..

Monya, wait till they see it on tv as well, they'll have to believe it...... :D

The tomato doesn't have that much of a history, it has been growing there for quite a while though. Before I put in the silver perch (about 3 months ago) the system had been sitting empty for about 3-4 months with no fish at all, all of the grwbeds were looking pretty crappy incuding the tomato plant as they had no real nutrients. Then I had the call from gardening Australia and suddenly I found some new motivation, ripped out three of the beds and replanted, then added all the fish.

Must have been a real shock to any of the bacteria that were left in the system when suddenly theres 130 fish in the tank. The plants haven't grown as quickly as they normally would, because it has taken time for the bacteria to re-estabish it's self. but the tomato plant that was diseased and lanky has come back well, and the other plants are all starting to do well..

yeah, still unsure as yet... They said I would be informed what date it's showing, 6 weeks or so was the guess, which puts it at end of July sort of period... I'm gunna be watching GA regularly every week from now on anyway..... waitng... Though I watch it most weeks usually, have done for years... You should all watch it anyway because it's such a great show.. GARDENING AUSTRALIA 6.30 saturday night, channel 2..

If and when I do hear, I'll be making an anouncement on here so that everyone knows.
