Hi Gemmell,

currently there is a big hole in the bottom of the white pipe, which when the bucket is in the right spot, hey presto water into the bucket.

Have to make sure your feet are out of the way though.

just thought i would do a little update. We cant log in to the backyard farming website so thought i would include the ordinary garden as well.

We have beans in both the aquaponics system and the vegie garden and it is interesting to see and taste the difference. Both growing ways are as good as each other. We are however still having difficulty with bugs in the greenhouse, in particular white fly. Have been threatening to by some benificial bugs for ages (more like procrastinating), so tonights job will be internet researching.

We have had our trout for 2 weeks now. This lot seem to be a little shyer than previous lots. They are still not leaping out to feed, at least not while someone is watching. As soon as you do up the zip you can hear them splashing around.

We have just bought some potato seeds, and i have run my father-inlaw for hot tips, as he grows the best spuds in New Zealand. I have to chit them up first, which will take about a month and they will go in the new wicking bed.

spent the day cleaning out the greenhouse a couple weeks back. This is what happens when you dont have enough ventilation in the greenhouse.

Fish are doing well, and thoroughly enjoying the rainy weather we have been having. They had lost interest in feeding a couple of weeks back, but once we realised the ph had dropped and lifted it, they were back on the bite.

The miniture cauliflowers have done well as have the mini cabbages. We have stopped having the fungus and mould issues since the weather cooled.

thanks Ian and Abdul, sorry but we dont get into the forum as much as we used to.

Just looking through the members systems. It amazes me how creative and different everyones systems can be. We all work with the resources that we have at hand at the time.

There are some ingenious systems out there. Everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for jobs well done. :support:

Killed off another 5 trout today. Pretty much luck of the draw. Im too short to reach the other side of the tank, so what gets netted comes out.

This time i weighed them before i cleaned them up.

758g
605g
540g
425g
391g

smoked a couple and the rest went into the freezer.
