Hi first I have to say thatnks guys I'm so glade i found a active forum with such a wealth of info that will help me move from being a fairly well read noob to harvesting my own crops and fish I've been studying permaculture with a big lean towards mycology mostly for a couple years and I'm trying to go from just reading to actually building/living a more sustainable life

I live a hour or so out side of Chicago in Illinois about 2 hours from the Wisconsin border I'm in usda zone 5a I'm thinking about starting with a smaller Barrel ponic type setup to get my hands wet then going bigger as we get closer to the spring thaw out here I'll start asking a ton of questions in the mean time I plan on reading your archive here so my questions wont be quite so noobish

Peace and love
Adam Of S.E.

hehe I don't think I would want to leave I could use a few good addictions plus I'm trying to find a way out of my wageslave lawn care job into something more productive like market gardening and this seems like the way to go I just watch a vid on youtube where a guy was claiming he was managing to get a million pounds of food a year on 3 acres  I doubt I'll manage that but I would like to have enough dried canned and frozen before I hit the winter layoff next year so I have 90% our food for 3 months or more on hand
