Hi all,

I am so revving to get started but my barrels have been sitting there for a week looking like barrels with bodies stored in them.

I have little people living with me that require so much time and by the time I get them in bed it is 9:30pm and I can not have loud tools going :(

I am too eager but may not have a choice but to leave it for the weekend project....I guess more time to fine tune my design.

Barrels are cut easily with a hand saw (wood saw)
and so is timber for stands.
Bunnings have floodlights on a telecopic pole for $20
Come on mate, do you really have an excuse? (although I must admit, no AP has been done, even on the weekends since my little boy arrived)

my advice would be build a fence around the AP that you can jump over in a flash to ajudicate any disputes and then slowly work on your AP while the kids.... little people entertain themselves

not sayin you should ignore them just maybe encorage some independant play :)

and KP its a reall hoot when they want to get in and help my boy likes to use the hammy and skewdriber on everything ... ankles toes fingers sisters plants toys etc such a helpfull little soul

Cheers
pete

Hey now guys, don't jump down MY throat! ;-)
Black duck did say he had time after 9:30 but couldn't use power tools.
As the little ppl are sleeping at that time, adjudicating disputes should not be necessary, warding off kind hearted helpers also should not be necessary.
In 2 years time, I truly hope I too will be able to say:
'I have time after 9:30'
instead of
'By the time they're in bed, I'm rooted!'

Captain and Delgrade: Thanks for keeping it clean - and so true...
I usually make allowances by stating I'll shower in the morning, and we can wash the sheets early...

Ah, KP, you don't know what happiness is until you have kids....(you guys know the rest of the line. *grin*)

Blackduck,

Perhaps you could at least get a little ammonia circulating through some gravel, or even just a little goldfish in a barrel in the shade, 10cm of gravel on the bottom. In several weeks you will have some cycled gravel/water and reduce cycling time for your system to a week or so....

Hey! At least it is a step in the right direction!

Another option would be to get a bunch of stuff layed-out and marked (late at night with the work light?), then do a bunch of power tool stuff in one ten-minute shot another day after bribing the DW to hold back the larval humans.

Seriously, good luck. It is not always easy.

hydrophilia,

Good advice. I will mark everything out and then come that free moment I can piece it all together. It is the weekend so I should be able to do it but due to bad timing I am starting a short course in AP with WEA in SA (a lot of acronyms there) so I think I will delay my work till I have that under my belt this afternoon. I may then get more advice before I start. Either way, something is going to be cut today and it aint going to be me.

Wait...Little one having 10am sleep, mum's taken the other two out. Time to get things done...

Got to go :)
