Damn Boris those are stunning - did you paint them?
What is the location of the painting - I can almost feel that water on the shore! Very good technique love to see these in real life....

I think it is Coogee Beach Dave, about 20 minutes from here.
One day the planets will align and all will work itself out.

painted them last year to be finished before xmas , took about three weeks I think .
I worked on them full time which is rare , usually I work on pieces sporadically when the mood strikes me

it took almost as long to prepare the canvasses - theyre the best Ive ever made, hand stretched ( as always ) double rabbit skin sized , two coats of oil prime undercoat , then a blue underpainting wash ( I usually use ocre but this one wanted to be REALLY blue )

It was based on photo's I took of Coogee beach south of Fremantle , but I've changed it around a little - artistic license

Niiice - lot of prep in there Boris... yeah I know the feeling when you working and it takes over and time vanishes (at least in your own mind)... feel like that when I'm doing a BYAP mag...

So it's oil not acrylic?

oils definitely are more fun , especially after sniffing the turps all day

I havent done any paintings of the UK visit yet ( only just sorted through the photo's a month ago ) , but Ive got a few that I want to do this year , plus a friend who came with us on part of the trip ( after we visited you , up through the Scottish highlands ) wants me to do a big one for him .
I really want to do a couple of frm the shots I took looking out across the bay at Beaumaris and one of Conwy castle ,plus Snowdonia . . . damn , there's too many to paint

just got to find time to do them all
