Here's a quick video I did up for someone who was wanting to see how I'd done the shade system so far.

I will tighten the wires in a week or so when the concrete finally sets properly and then put on the shade cloth "curtains" that will slide back and forth depending on where we need shade or in high winds.

Here it is with the first shade "curtain" in place. We'll put up two so they can open and close independently.

The system is all complete now. I have finished the last of the plumbing and now its just time to sit back and enjoy it.

I'll be keeping an eye on my water temp a I want to get some trout in asap.

you and me both on the trout there embi!

seting up my trout system now (refurb of my first sytem). digging in a pond this time, lining it with underlay and old carpet and then raising above ground 1 sleeper height. gbs sitting on top and around. no sump, just direct pump to gb and flow out. thinking of constant height and flow system to see how it goes. saves on having to worry about syphons, flow rates and timers if it works (works for C1 so fingers crossed). 2500lt pond in total (filled to 3/4)

Hoping to get my trout at the end of feb and am looking at getting 200 mix of rainbow and brown.

Your system is looking very tidy there too embi! Nice work

Thanks quachy. I do try to make it very aesthetically pleasing as possible.

Today we made a heap of tomato sauce. We go 5kg of tomatoes over the last few days and ended up making 8 long neck bottles of sauce and its bloody delicious.

How ASAP? Last year in Canberra I put in my trout on 22nd March, and we still had quite a few 30 degree days where I had to throw in some ice in the morning. I know Kuda got them in a bit later than me.

Well we took a gamble today. I have been looking at long range forecasts and decided to get our rainbow trout in.

We got 150 for the system and they are loving it or should I say we are loving it. They've travelled well and are settling in just brilliantly.

After months of Murray Cod that just hide its great to see the trout going nuts and swimming in the currents.

We just need to get over today and tomorrow and then we should have no temperature issues.

Go Embi

150 trout on a 34 degree day, gutsy mate....but you will do well.
Keep the sump pump running continuous to overflow and your Aeration will be great..

Can't wait to see them.

I spoke to Trevor with the 12 bed system in Carlton today at the Seymour Expo and he process all his Trout from 650 gms to 1 kilo. What he didn't eat he cryovac them and place in his big freezer room.

Hi Dean,

Yeah I have the overflow going so constant aeration and all is well.

How many trout did he end up with. Must have been quite a few.

Hope the expo is going well.
