Les - I really like the idea of connecting the bottom to the ground via the cemented in post and t joiner. Means it can be easilly moved to another location if desired without much fuss at all - yet is really securely tied down against wind.

Love it Les, top marks. I would be very surprised if you can get away with only the uprights you have there, I reckon to keep the plastic nice, as couple more to fill the gaps will probably be in order.
Again, Love it, top stuff!!

Oh yeah, door?

Good one Les, I was going to build my next greenhouse from wood, but I think yours will be much easier and stronger. You made a list of materials but can you give us a total cost for the materials to date ? (or is that classified info hidden from the authority)

Thanks Les for all the info on greenhouse. I have been thinking of building one on the same lines but larger. Luv the way you have secured it to the ground, so simple. I ws going to cement in threded rod and weld feet to achour it but your way is better. How are the grow beds going?, can you post a picture of them filled with gravel?

Good work Les

Les... I built a school greenhouse in this fashion and found it to be slightly cheaper and a bit more versitile. I could add spars as needed etc. I surrounded mine with chain link fencing to create more support for the plastic and (because it was in the city) to keep out vandals. For a door, I simply structured a gate out of the same fittings and used the prefab hinges that are made for chain link fencing systems, assuming you used the same diameter piping as the fence systems?

My next greenhouse will lkely be a repeat in similar fashion.

maybe you need shade instead!
and there has been lots of talk about running water over a material medium such as hessian to cool the water return.
just a thought.

I was just kidding....just trying to rub in that we need no such thing here as it never gets cold. no need for shade cloth under the palms.

Had some problems surface on the w'end and have been missing, a friend of 40 years was diagnosed with lung cancer and they also found a tumor on the brain, she had been given 2 - 6 weeks so it slowed my wife and I down a bit. My presence may be less over the coming weeks but I will try to keep up to date (475 posts behind this morning).

The frame work with 11 lengths of 32nb, 28 "Tee"s and 3 corners was about $440

To add a door frame and another upright will require:
2 lengths of pipe plus fittings an extra $75
Some crunchy stuff on the ground $40 - metre should cover it, then the plastic covering, will post those prices when I get to them.

By adding an extra upright, the spread will be about 2 metres, Monya and Murray what are the distances on your covers?

Les, that seems to be a reasonable excuse. We'll send you some good thoughts to help you through.

You were missed.

Your GH is being covered with a clear film? Our's is a different engineering prospect to your "tunnel" type, but we've got the beams for a slightly sloping carport-type roof at about 900mm apart.

Think Murray's shade house is about 5m * 5.5m and I can't remember if he had any other supports for his film?
