Hay yeah,
I planted a dwarf nectarine tree in a big pot, 2nd season this summer and got about 30 bits of fruit, its lucky to be 2 foot high. Taste awesome.
My dirt toms seemed to ripen earlier as well, but i didn't have any in the AP system to compare with.

Regards

Matt,

On a completely dirt garden note: my golden delicious apples, first year of fruiting after two years (put it in as a bare root). Have around 50-60 apples on the tree and the biggest brach with 24 apples in total split due to the weight and winds today :( I have roped the branch back on and although expect to save some of the fruit, I don't think the branch will re-bond. It may, but doubt it. Bugger!

Bummer. :(

If you strip off most fruit, leaving just one every ten cm, you will do much better. My dw still tells me that I'm taking off too many, but one gets nice large fruit and few broken branches.

Good luck!

Tree-ripened Goldens... mmmmm.

pH at 7.4 and a big ZERO for salt! The longer they stay coolish, the bigger the fruit will get before it goes red, but no salt I think is the key. By the way, I buried 4-5 banana peels 1.5weeks ago. Not sure if that is making a difference, but I'll keep doing it if my strawbs keep flowering and setting!

Also went to mates dam tonight and caught 2 15cm silver perch and saw heaps of splashing at feeding time. Released them back to dam to grow some more!

Also got 9 yabbies and am putting them into my yabbie tank now with their hides. They are about 7-10cm long. Will see how they go!

Any idea on how much to feed them?

I'm jealous mate, good work getting some females, but you could have got more to stop the boys fighting! Not sure if thats's fact but it seems to be true in........ humans!

Can't wait to have a crack at getting some when I get back from Adelaide next week.

I don't specifically feed my two, I just feed the goldies and whatever food gets pushed down to the bottom by the GB outlet they scurry around eating. I have put a few peas in the tank now and then, when I have em in the garden, and they seem to love them. Will be good to get the system upgraded to have a yabbie only tank and try out a few things with feeding.

If you think your trout will love em try feeding em to ya Murry's. Have caught quite a few Murry on yabbies in the wild.

feed them some barra pellets this morning. they come out of their hides grab a pellet and then nick off. kinda funny to watch. might go 2 pellets each per feed. feed 3 times a day and see if they eat that if too much then reduce if not enough then up.

Hi Quachy
My Yabbies love Sweet Potato, Peas and Carrots. They also eat Zucchini leaves (and stalks) and Parsley. I also feed them Crayfish Pellets. They are very territorial and cannibalistic - especially when moulting.

A decent net is a must in a big tank. Actually 2 nets are better because you have one sweeping around the tank and the other coming so they meet in the middle, kind of like herding them.

I'd pick shopping, but then, " after all I am a girl."
