I have finaly started to put my first aquaponics system together,at the moment i have 8 X grow beds and will hopefully have a 5000L tank in a few weeks. I am planning to finish and turn a partially constructed shed down the backyard into a big green house. When the green house is finished i should have 3 X 5000L fish tanks and about 24 to 30 grow beds.

Welcome Fox.... good to see you're started out with a small system to cut your teeth on...

It's almost universal to move on to a bigger system within a few months of finishing your first..

By then, NSW might be up for sale... if you think it might be big enough, I'll make some representations to the chief boofhead... or as it is at the moment.. the chief "boofed" head...

This just helps prove the things I've always said

1.You have to spend money to save money :)

2. If the first expense is the last expense it is the least expense. :)

3. Money is just a trade for things that you want.

4. Life is too short........when I go I want to leave a big footprint :D

Hi everybody, long time no post. so now i have finally got together the fish tanks and equipment for the first aquaponic system. Due to me working most weekends lately my timetable of having the system and greenhouse finished has been a bit off.The system so far consists of one 5000L fish tank that will be put in the ground to about two thirds (the top will be cut off) , one 1000L sump/fingerling tank, four grow beds and four beds that will be placed under the grow beds for yabbies and marron.
Once completely finished the first system will have eight growbeds, eight yabbie/marron beds one 5000L fish tank and one 1000L sump/fingerling tank.
