OK, managed to get some work done a couple of nights this week - so the third and final wall is nearly completed.

Which is good as 3 m³ of road base, a Dingo, and a plate compactor will be getting dropped of late this arvo for backfilling behind the walls to be levelled off with crusher dust mixed with a little cement.

Should be wild fun in 40+ºC heat

Nice view and good to see things are starting to happen

Yeah it took a long time but finally convinced her, but with a few conditions attached eg seperate area for swimming and for fish.
I focussed on the ideas of not swimming in nasty+stinky chemicals, fresh organic veges and herbs all year, fresh fish at your doorstep, actually using the pool all year and not just a couple of months, it will be a novelty for people to come and see, and hopefully it will actually save money and not cost money.
Now I just have to get it to work! :?

Thanks Erik

I' think what I'll do is leave it a couple of years and once the "novelty factor" has worn off, have a go then.

My other AP system will have proved itself by then so that should help support the argument, along with the points you've used as well.

Cheers

I would suggest that Nocky would have "forgotten" his camera, for his great southern fishing holiday.

Bit like not having a set of scales when it is weighing in time

Jeez - haven't been that hot in quite a while - definitely the wrong weekend to be doing what I did.

43ºC in the shade 2:00pm Sunday, and I didn't finish till 7:30pm (and it was still 37ºC  ) - I was literally jumping in the pool every hour to bring my body temperature back down.

Anyway, more progress photos;

Yeah Mark, true - I felt like the guy in the hire advert with the dinky little umbrella and the machine going "putt putt".
The upside is that even though I have a ½ acre block, parts of it have very restricted access - to the point where I have only 10-15mm on each side in one spot.

Thanks Simo, yeah I'm hoping to setup it up so that I have a lot of flexibility/capability to try a few new things that I've thunked up over the last year.

The ant keeperouteras are an example of that - they're my GB "boots" to keep slugs and snails out and hopefully ants as well. The outer rim will be filled with pool salt. The inner has 4 inches of beeswax in the bottom to keep any water off of the feet and prevent them from rusting away - I'm then assuming there will nearly always be some water on top of the wax and that should keep the ants away. It's all theory at this point.

I can see an excellent AP/house warming party coming up!! :occasion1: :wave1: :occasion2: :juggle: :drunken:

The antkeeperouters should work great on the GB legs, I'm just wondering what you are going to design to keep the little blighters from crawling up your pipes?? :banghead:

It's a good thought Rick, but going over the system in my head I can't see where the ants are going to get onto the pipes. They should all be above the ground I think.....

Oh, they can of course climb the 1000 L tanks and get onto the back-to-the-FT-pipes, but none of those will be in direct contact with the GB.

For the sake of detail - each GB will drain directly into the tank underneath it, and the water from there will flow back to the FT, therefore no contact between tanks and GBs.
