Here goes, I will give the prices as new from a supplier, I then visited demo yards for whatever I could scrounge.

Parts list:
11 lengths of 32nb galv pipe (6.5metre) $26/length
34 “T” – this is the cheapest or you can use corners which are more expensive (2 “T” =$8, 1 corner - $11)
Corners can be used from 90 – 180 degrees, so if corners were used on each end of the roof then it would be 16 “T” and 9 corners

5 lengths used for horizontal lines, 4 for each corner and one for the roof
3 lengths cut to 3.5m – width of GH
6 lengths cut to 2m – height of GH sides
6 lengths cut to 1.8m – roof bits
4 lengths 350mm – dug holes and concreted in ground for support

The frame work is secured by the 350mm lengths, I splayed the ends for added strength (made 4 vertical cuts in the end about 30mm long [4 quarters] then got a hammer and punch and pushed out the quarters to form a base).

My intention is to have plastic over the roof area and shade cloth for the sides and possibly a piece of shade cloth for the top in summer.

I did all the construction on my own, so it is not a difficult task

I like it les. Much simpler to do than a tunnel design (no bending) yet probably not too much less effective. Tunnel would let in a bit of extra light and may catch the wind a bit less. Lack of light is not likely to be a problem where I am going to put mine anyway.

My only concern with your design is whether the uprights are too far apart to keep the plastic/shadecloth well supported. That is easilly fixed though. Ther may also be a need for some horizontal bars also for the same reason.

vb, you could be right, it is easy to add another erection tho, with it up I can assess it better whilst I re-locate the pool fence.

Good one Jaymie - never thought of the chain saw, must wait til the missus goes out (noise will attract her)

we've got a tarp frame for camping called "Marty's Erection". Its a very large structure, built by a friend of mine. I'm sure he'd be pleased to share the name!
