Keep a close eye on the ammonia and especially the nitrites of the aquarium system. I found I had trouble keeping up with the nitrites on my indoor aquarium since the filters on that system are constantly flooded.

aquarium system tests:

amm - 2
rite - .5
rate - about 7

Removed all but 4 silvers this morning after doing the reading. Now only 4 silvers left in the aquarium, and about 20 ish bass with 4 catfish on the bottom.

will keep it this way for a week and see how the tests go. the silvers i took out had put on a goodly amount of weight and are now in a 1000lt ibc tank. Will try to get them nice and big for wintering and then move them into my main silver tank, ready for trout!

Murray cod are coming along really well, some have definately doubled or more in size. Got them at about 2-3" now the biggest one I can see is at least 7" with the remaining bigger ones at about 5-6". I have about 5-6 cod that don't seem to be taking the feed. They are growing, but much slower than the rest. They may end up bye byes if they don't hurry up and eat more! Will try to get a photo of them tonight, but they are damn hard to catch!

I have had 2 cod swim up my inlet pipes (I have no idea how they managed this!) and get stuck and hence dieing :( . Have removed them and made sure the inlet is no where near the surface of the f/t to avoid any more misadventures.

The bigger silvers are pretty big, eating heaps in this warm weather. Will keep feeding them until they stop eating 4 times a day in this heat. Averaging 1.5 cups a day of 4mm barra feed at the moment with 18 silvers varying in size from 6-12". Can't wait to give one of them a go in the oven  but will keep the feed up and fatten them up a bit more before going fishing!

Quachy

Beaut pics, Q.

If you are uncertain about pollinators (bees are going scarce around here) you might hand pollinate a watermelon or two, just to see if that helps. Just grab a male flower, rip off the petals, stuff it into a female flower and wiggle it about.

Should I have phrased that differently?

Picked up a 2000lt tank, catfish and autopots a forum memeber was off loading (thanks Dave and all the best with you and your family's endeavours up north). I have put the catfish with my big (now very small looking) silvers. Here are a couple of comparison pics.

The plan is to overhaul my first system with the new tank and a couple of tikley tubs as grow beds. One on my little 500lt tanks will become a header/fingerling tank and the bid tank will be for the trout in winter and the catfish. Not sure of teh exact setup but will play around and see.

File comment: The catfish are 310mm and 300mm long (the biggest 2) my biggest silver is 250-270mm long but look very very small compared!

Thanks FF, I must say that your input as well as others on this forum have been very helpful indeed. I don't think it would be any where near what it is today without yours and others help! Thanks guys and gals!
