You never know, I might feel something better!!

I have tried a few of the Hanns low carb 3.5 and it doesn't seem to do any harm. Maybe 'cause I have yet to build up the allergy (or whatever) level again. Worst part is, it tastes like possum piss.

Probably true Rick !

Can't speak from experience, but I'm imagining that possum piss is pretty hard to get used to. Must be something you good ol' country boystried once :blackeye:

OK. While I'm waiting for the builder to get the hell out of my life, I'm playing around in a little 1000 litre tank.

So my latest experiment is a biofilter that I can use to filter and aerate the 1000 ltre sumps I plan to have under each GB.

Basically it's 300mm pvc pipe, capped at both ends with 6mm square stainless steel mesh to contain the media. The filter will be a 'moving bed' type using Kaldnes K1 and BioChips as the media.
The movement will be supplied by a AC-02 40litre/min piston pump outletting through 2 cylindrical 150mm x 50mm aluminium oxide airstones

The photos below should explain it fairly well. All thoughts and questions encouraged - Ta !

Yeah Rupe - sorry, shoulda said that. I'll put it in place Sunday once the silicone has completely cured, and then put some more photos up.

Yes, as you say it will be submerged, standing vertical with the water being airlifted up and over the lip. Will obviously need to play with levels etc.

Also not sure on the amount of media to get proper 'moving bed' happening. With the amount in there I may not have allowed for the volume of air that will also be in the cylinder. Anyway, won't be hard to adjust as the mesh is only siliconed in so can be sliced out and the amount of media adjusted and then just silicone the mesh back in.

Mate, it's by Oregon so should work with the Oregan receiving station, according to the spiel. I haven't put any effort into that bit. Hopefully I'll get 2, maybe 3, seconds to myself over Christmas and make it all work together.

Oregon Scientific Australia will be the easiest for you. Rupe also has the option of going to Australian Geographic stores, which is where I picked up mine (love that instant gratification!).

I gave them a call yesterday.... they will work with their "professional" range of weather stations...

Each thermometer requires a seperate channel on the weather station, which means a max of three... as the thermometers only have three selectable channels.... and with the various weather stations having xxx number of attached sensors... the 100 & 200 untis would probably be required for multiple thermometers...

The 100 station does not have a datalogger, and therefore needs to be attached to a dedictaed PC.... the 200 station does have an inbuilt datalogger, capable of store up to 12 months data...

Software for Windows 7 is not available at the moment... but they are working on it...

If you use weather display software it has a data logger and also stores data forever, it has instant setup for 100's of brands of stations, but if I then upload this data to the net and check it when on hols it still doesn't help me when temp is to high or low, just stuffs up the holiday stressing about fish :dontknow:  but i will probably have to update the station now and get a floaty, gotta keep up with Jones' or chillidudes anyway
But if you have a station, download the trial of weather display you will be impressed, hard to setup but when done

OK Paul - I'll get onto it in the next couple of weeks - thanks.

The 200 also has alarms so you can get it to go off if the water gets to hot or cold - course you gotta be home to hear it :?
