Anyone know what sort of spider Miss Muppet is on AXL's photo post, I found one just like it lurking in a hole in the ground

My first green visitor ! To put him in scale, that is a Snow Pea seedling leaf that it is on. The lens shows up incredible markings that i hadn't noticed.

You should see a lot of them under the microscope. I still remember how lacewings looked like when they were caught. Pearl wings after being in alcohol.

Nothing special about the photography but great subject material. My wife found this fella when she was out picking basil from the NFT. Brought him in for a look before dropping him back off into a GB. Maya just thought he was wonderful.

Maya has been around enough animals to know what gentle means. In fact with insects she rarely tries to touch them, is happy just to watch and giggle. However the Koi in my tank sometimes get a swift kick when they nibble on her toes :D

Odd, I would have thought crabs had better taste than to sit on a case of 4X

That is one heck of a crab!

By the way, looking thru this thread I am a little jealous. Australia has some very odd and also strikingly beautiful creatures. Much of our wildlife here is on the mundane side.

Hey people! I'm back! I'm gokul as you can see on the left.
Just posted to say that I'm still around. But will be slightly busy for a few years I'm doing my PhD now :)

My tiny aquaponic system is going along just barely. Next year I may be less busy with my PhD than now, I might do something (aquaponically) good then.

I also just bought a camera! Canon's powershot A1100 IS.

Do you know this interesting thing - that you can turn some of your powershots into more advanced cameras using CHDK (it's free software):
Turn Your Point-and-Shoot into a Super-Camera
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_for_Dummies

My A1100 does not yet have CHDK support but I'm waiting.
