:flower:
I just don't get it :? ...

The freaky thing is, if all the irrational consumption stopped,
10 houses stopped, 10 cars stopped, and people started sharing the winfall of this nation,
we'd all be working....
together... :?
Together would result in all houses being occupied, ghost suburbs becoming communities
The cost of housing would reduce and debt, after the bubble has made most people bancrupt
as the value of their house is underpinning their very existance. False by ALL means.

...and some so-called high flyers crash and burn and take a heap of N00bs with them :flower:
....I'd like to see that

You've been 'sucked in' by your own inflammed egos

You show me more efficient ways for people to produce food in their backyards and I will try my darndest to promote it. I'm starting a new magazine, the first edition is pretty much finished and it will be out in the next couple of weeks, called Backyard Farming, this gets things further back to the basics with articles about making cheese, growing fruit trees and veggies, home smoking, composting, making wine, efficient garden design etc etc... And it will only be available electronically....

Hi EB,

happy to contribute articles down the track as well.

As for the whole ETS thing, I think I'll keep my comments off this web site and E-mail them to the appropriate member of parliment. I suggest to all others to do so as well, whether you are Pro or Con.
The only point I'm willing to put here is that I would rather some more discussion take place, specially in lue of the recent CRU hack.

Himzo.

Rupe ,, Kevin Rudd "could" have done something about the rise ,, he "chose " not to do so.

Point on price increase compensation for pensioners etc was ....., the 21% rise now is pre- CTS ,, so therefore NOT planned to be compensatable. The next rise , I believe a further 16% will be the one compensated. Point two was , why should they be compensated when they merely need to reduce their usage so their bills remain the same.

YES Rupe ,, if I am lucky enough to live to 50 and then also become a burden on society I will happily offer myself up as SP food:)

Well , I gfuess my biggest problem with this whole thing is the lack of clarity on were the money is going. I am very pro on inc reasing prices of energy when that money is defined and then efficientgly designated to appropriate energy saving , less polluting technology.
IF ,, IF the 21% increase ( or a large majority of it ) was specifically designated for upgrading our coal burning power stations to clewan nuclear It would recieve my full support.

Another prime excample is diesel/petrol ..... if $1.00 per litre was added specifically targeted toward cleaner technology i would give that my full support. What ever happened to the greener powered LNG popwered bus tests ?? Also Australia Post had several small trucks running on that?? Seems that idea just stopped in it's tracks.

Well I guess Kevin Rudd could have done something Chappo... it would have involved somehow overturning the ruling of an "independant" body... meddling in the affairs of multiple power supply corporations.... and probably Commonwealth legislation to over-rule State governments...

I'm sure that would have gone well ... with the business lobby, state governments etc...

Seriously.... there was nothing he could do short of some sort of "dictatorial" decree... and somehow I don't think even you would have supported such a course of action...

As to where the monies go.... I agree with you... with a CPRS... I wouldn't mind bearing some of the cost if the moneies were directed to clean technology power generation...

And I object to funding polluters to continue to pollute... and indeed funding power generators to replace their generating capacity...

But most power generation... with the exception of Victoria... is still "state" owned... which causes problems in itself...

Add to that ... taking on the banks and investment dollars of overseas interests... and it's a lose-lose situation for everyone... except for the polluters.. and the banks...

You watch them cancel all maintenance on the power stations... leting them fall into disrepair... causing power blackouts & shortages... allowing them to recoup their losses ... by bleeding cash flow for as long as possible....

By making US pay.... and justifying it by buying at the "spot" price...

Then again... something could be done... if every single one of us was to approach our local state and federal MPs...

Frankly, i think IPART's decision, and the economic modelling it's based upon.... justifies a "variation"... based on IPARTs own rules...

But that would take a Supreme Court, or High Court challenge.... and I don't have the money for that.... the governement does though....

But Australians don't complain... often enough, loud enough... or for long enough.... and that's why we're stuck with it...

"Australians don't complain enough or often enough"
Hit the nail on the head Rupe,,, Australians have always prided themselves on not dobbing and not wingeing ,, great idea as long as we had no minorities trying to force their way on us and a government supporting the Australian ideals. But it just AIN'T that way any more.
Minorities with BIG wingeing mouths seem to rule over the majority in near every decision. So its Winge WINGEW WINGE or watch your world change in ways that are NOT what the vast Majority want. I perfect example recently ..... same sex marriages ,, I will NOT begin a debate on homo-sexuality as it would serve no purpouse ,, but i will say WHY was there a paper in the Senate for such an idea ..... the VAST majority have made it clear TIME AND TIME again that we don't want that,,, but it just keeps getting rammed down our throats by the minority. The wonderful media advertise HUGE protests by the supporters ?????? 2 or 3,000 in Sydney ,, 2 thousand or so in Adelaide Perth Brisbane etc ....., Maybe a total of 12,000 ,, so what ,, why do these 12,000 think they can rail-road the vast majority? They think and probably can because of the "WINGE long and loud and you will win" system. The vast Majority will eventually just get tired of the argument and relent,,, SAD sad way that the world works now.
I'd like to see a "Pollution" trading scheme with all tax's raised to be used in direct efforts to reduce "food miles.

I dunno that same sex marriage is the "perfect example" you think it is Chappo :
the "vast majority" of people I know have no problem with gay marriage at all , including older relatives , and I only know 2 gay people ...

fun times are on the way though - Abobt as leader of the liberals , BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
I tell ya , this "politics" thing is a big comedy , people just have trouble seeing the funny parts

Hahaha... yep, I'm with you Boris... electing "Alfred E Newman" to the leadership is hugely funny... although I keep getting flashes of the Mouseketers as well...

You watch all his bluff and bullshit disappear under pressure... and the nasty old "Howardism" resurface...

It's a good thing really... and a bit of a sad thing as well.... as it hopefully will result in the complete anniliation of the old hat, old boys club dinosaurs of the Liberal party...
