I am trying to get an idea of where people in and around Perth get their fish food from, what type and for how much.

I can get a single 20kg bag of Grobest 4mm sinking silver perch pellet to Perth for around $80.00 ($4.00/kg) which is sent from QLD (for some reason all the aquaculture feed manufacturers seem to be in QLD), barra pellets are a little bit more expensive but can be used on SP I have been told.

Grobest will sell half ton pallets at the full ton rate (wholesale price) so I may be able to get a feed supplier in midland to stock Grobest pellets if he is going to get enough customers, obviously because fish food is perishable and needs to be turned over fairly fast.

So I guess I want to know:

What type of pellets do you use?
Where do you get them?
How much per KG?
Are you interested in the Grobest pellets if I can get someone in midland to stock them?

If you can get SP or Barra pellets cheap in Perth (close to $4 or $5) let me know as it would be easier to pick them up as I need them rather than ordering from QLD and waiting for them to show up.

Thanks

Simo

I get my feed from

Stirling Bulk Distributors Tenterden WA
(08) 9851 7218.
Email : sbd@bbnet.com.au
Amy Weston

I paid $52.90 for 20kg of Skretting Nova FF 3mm plus $15 for freight plus GST for the whole lot. $74.69 in total... Works out to about $3.75 a kg... Check out Skretting.. http://www.skretting.com.au... I believe the Nova are Barra feed.

I think they are reputable in regards to fish feed... in line with Grobest and Ridleys...

The freight is only to the courier depot in Welshpool so if you are in the metro area you will need to pick up from Welshpool.

If you can get fish feed cheaper, do let me know as well... Thanks...

On re-evaluation of the freight cost for a single 20kg bag the total cost would be $100 ($5.00/kg) So I might give Stirling Bulk Distributors a call.

Does any one know of a local manufacturer of fish food?

Chillidude, Carey Nagle from gidgie SP said he used to get fish food from a stock feed place in the hills, I think he said Darlington, since it is your neck of the woods do you know anything about this? Is there even a stock feed place in Darlington?

Yep, just spoke to Murray from SBD, very helpful guy. He said to e-mail him the details of what I want and he will e-mail back an invoice and when paid by direct deposit he will have it deliverd to welshpool to be picked up. I ythink they deliver to welshpoll 2 times a week and they stock the Skrettings classic fish pellets which are for native fish.

Thanks Chillidude

I love this forum, ask and you shall recieve.

Glen Forrest stockfeeds do a cheap perch pellet, though the quality dosent even come close to the Skretting Pellets.

Yep, that's it - sorry Simo - was off line for a while - no experience with the quality myself. Even if I did, would bow to Troutman's greater experience.

I got a 25kg bag of Skretting Nova ME 4mm sinking pellets from Murray at SBD delivered to welshpool for $81.95 or $3.28/kg.

Very good service form these people highly recommended.

I was thinking of freezing most of it untill needed. Is this a good idea?
