Are you human?: Sometimes.
Location: Margaret River.
If you look around you can sometimes find Koi quite cheeply.
They are good growers and don't mind if your water goes green with algae..
After a couple of years they taste pretty good sauted with ginger, garlic, chilli and a little soya.

Can't get Koi here cos of new laws and the breeders are waiting to see how it effects them. Do have a guy down the road that said I can have a couple of 20ltr buckets of eggs if his spawn this year. Might have to go drop a few bags of ice into his pond.

Duff, some of the biggest breeders are in NSW, just get in quick, unless you're breeding and selling, you should slip under the radar

Are they close to you? Take the dead koi back to them and let them have a look and advise on what to treat the others with.

Koi are great, my daughter just loves ours, she is 15 months old and dangles her hands and feet in the tank with them and they nibble at her.

My kids love ours also, 2 little helpers at fish feeding time now...

One tip I did get from the fish farm was that it's good to add a new fish in the tank every so often, as the competition from the new fish helps keep their immune system healthy. I suppose moving some fish between tanks if you have multiple tanks would do the same thing.

Not that will help with your problems KP, but might be worth thinking about moving forward, once you get them through this.

Nope, still got massive ulcers, yet none have died... one appeared to scab up a bit and then the other fish ate that off... some ulcers have got bigger.

KP register here http://koi2day.com/forum/ and post some pics. I only found the forum yesterday but there are heaps of experts that should be able to help. Registration takes a day to process as they manually do it.
