Yeah, I'd err on the side of caution myself, and who wants to loose their fishes... especially with LKB around to remind you about it, lol :P

I've been searching in vain for a pesticide that is suitable for use with my Marron and Yabbies. They are members of the phylum Arthropoda, which includes insects and arachnids, so anything that harms insects is likely to harm my crays as well.

The answer lies IMO in having your growbed in full sun and elevated off of the ground to discourage crawling insects. Locating the system away from people and pets will encourage birds and frogs that will help you keep the pests down in the system. I am also going to enclose my next system inside a shadehouse which will hopefully keep some of pests out too.

Mine is in full sun - except for the 90% shade that the pests give it.

lol - Reminds me of a joke:

If you have a moth ball in the left hand and a moth ball in the right hand, what have you got?

.....a bloody big moth

.....or 90% shade

Les,

I have not tried that method of killing as yet, Les
I am using diatomite on my Tomatoes with some limited success, it is not very good, but better than nothing.
Now that I have had the 100 Silvers in the system for a while the plants are already picking up and I feel the insect problem will diminish a fair bit because of the improved health of the system.
