I built a small one too and its been sitting out there for almost a month. Nary a BSF in sight!! And the temps have been ranging between 23c and 33c. We've been having a lot of rain though.

I find it difficult to believe that BSF haven't made it around the world yet. Perhaps there is an environmental reason? Perhaps they have a better nearby food source? I can't think of a harmful reason not to try to import some unless they would destroy food that other animals would eat. Make sure your food compost is in dry shade, they do not like it too hot or too wet. My bucket, with BSF, is on the back covered porch with a bucket lid on 90% of the way, and 10% uncovered so heat can escape. Even with that setup, my BSF stay beneath the surface so I can't always see them unless I move the goup around, but I can hear them moving nonetheless.

It's under covered shade under a stairway going up on the side of the house. I think I need to import! Might ask someone to pick up a cup of Phoenix worms and bring them across when they are coming here. (Then hopefully the larva will pupate.)

Hope there isn't a law against it!

There definitely here Nocky - was down at BYAP on Friday and saw Faye's and then found one inside the house yesterday.

Faye has bought down some larvae so narrogin should soon have a plague of BSF, will keep you tuned on progress

I can see the headlines now... "Narrogin full of maggots"....

We saw our first soldier flies (2) this morning putting the scraps out one has laid clumps of eggs in the compost bin. I am charging the camera to get a photo of the eggs.
