And here when GBs have drained, float is well under water. This is why I needed the weight in it as the upforce from the float could tip over an empty PVC pipe.

P.S. Anyone know how to get rid of those pesky reflections when you're trying to get a snap of the fish???

An umbrella or if you can something a bit heavier/thicker.

Use a 'Polarising' lens filter, or very basically, you can photograph through the polarised lens of your sunnies, if rotated to exclude the reflections. I only use polarised sun glasses when 'spotting' trout, it cuts out all surface reflections.
If all else fails, plastic wrap your camera, draw it very taut over the lens and take your pics from under water.
Cheers IanK

If you cant get a polarizing lens use polarized sun glasses and hold them over the lens.

How is it going anyway? What are your water temps? Mine are sitting around 9 or 10.

Dunno 15-20cm at a guess. The ones in my old system are bigger than the ones in the new system. Less competition I think. How are the SP growing out? How much food do you have?

Plenty of food, but they're not eating as much.
Growth has slowed off a bit, time to migrate them across two tanks. I just have to make a net (they're pretty quick!)

Had the pump die yesterday. Lost all the SP (~50). Yuk.
Time to get the aerator from Hell.
(Will update pump thread shortly).

Long overdue picture of the aerators.
90L/m from GAPO (QLD online aquarium mob).
Both are hooked up via one manifold so if one goes, it can pump both tanks (when they fail, one-way valve still operates).
