Not bad at the moment but I'm concerned about the night time temps starting to creep up. Not realy in a rush to harvest them but don't want to come home one day to find out that I have missed my chance.

I've had 39 degree air temps so far :D

As monya said, air is the key. Go longer if you want, but if they are a good size just harvest them, and remove the worry.

My trout managed to survive water temp of 26 the other week, and there is only a t piece comin off between the pump and gb's and the return from the gb's.
I've got no other airation in there.
These are tough little buggers tho, the amount that i have put them thru :D

Yo jono,
The thing is that the water will acummulate heat and as the days are getting longer,
there is less time for cooling down. more time for warming up.
Also the ground temps near the fish tank will be warming up
radiating heat longer, sucking up heat less.
If your water goes green as mud you will need to do a large water change... be ready it will happen
(speaking broadly)
Unless your fish load is less than your system can handle....
Remeber that transpiration stops working at as certain temps so when your grow bed is not in flood the temp will rise to 30+.
...and is why I previously(until 6 weeks or so ago) had a continuous flood system.
Anyone can step in and add their findings :flower:
Currently the water temp is about 17 (1-2deg C swing.)

Our last lot of trout we got through to January, lost the lot after a couple of days of over 40 degrees, night time temp at 7.00pm was 40 and day time got up to 42. We put in extra air after that.

If i remember rightly it was 25 fish in 3000lts water.

Well I have a fair bit of air and a good flow from the GB's. I'll keep monitoring the temp and harvest then slowly and cross my fingers.

Well I decided that rather than dallying around I would harvest them. 13 left in total, ranged from 230 - 425gm. Got 2 marinating at the moment and going to smoke them tonight. The rest have been vacuum sealed and frozen.

Now it's time to organise the barra, although at $20kg I'm considering changing to Silver Perch. Barra is only $15kg for fillets in Coles at the moment so it's hard to see the economics in growing them out.
