Janet mentioned growing morning glory, it's a declared weed in most states here, so probably don't grow that

Cool!! It can be a problem here, but it's not restricted to my knowledge. Now kudzu, that's a WEED!! I think it was brought in from Japan. Maybe you can get some of that!!!

Thanks everybody - will make some decisions to implement when I pull out the tom.

Habe some Dipel and will use it when I get a chance. Should solve a lot of the grub problems, though I have found that my Kale seems to be coverred in aphids of some sort.

VB, steer away from legumes, they're nitrogen fixing - they can use nitrogen from the air and need very little through their root system.

As for ladybirds, they seem to like those horrible milkweeds with the yellow flowers (technical name) My parents leave them in the garden for that reason!!

Thanks Heather. My interest in permaculture means that I know about the nitrogen fixing properties of legumes. Cow Pea is one of my favourite green manures and Pigeon Pea is my favourite longer living nitrogen fixer.

Regarding the lady beatles, I have a few in my system, but not enough to eat all the aphids at present. I have plenty around the yard, both good and bad types. Maybe some garlic in the system to ward them off could be the go.

All it takes is the click of a mouse button. If she followed my instructions and made us wireless, we wouldn't have this problem LOL

We've just started using Firefox for one of us and IE7 for the other one. This means we can be both logged on at the same time, answering each others comments.
