Many lessons learned I guess. I know your setup is not the first school AP system to be vandalized. Even if yours wasn't harmed on purpose, the trespassing is the problem and it seems the AP system could be a key to help against that.

I am a bit astonished that the trespassers were harvesting veggies. Now if it was only potatoes, I might have through a more malicious motive, but I don't know how broccoli fits into a potato launcher scheme so I guess they were hungry. :?

And a hearty congratulations to all the kids, and you too Burnsey...

And great to see the end result, especially considering events of a few weeks back...

Top job Mike. It is something like this that will stay in the kids minds forever. Mr Burns will be their most favorite primary school teacher. (It will change when they get High School 'cause their favorite teacher will be their woodwork teacher.  )

Burnsy...

From a fellow teacher (High school) just a few blocks away ...

Despite the probs you have encountered .. you guys have delivered so much!

Kudos... The kids faces say it all!

Burnsy, Joel and BYAP .... inspirational!

I think that many of these students will tell about this experience long after you are past your use by dates!

You are making a difference!

Thanks guys, you are right, their faces do show pretty well how much fun we had.

Johnny, not many sevens here this year (half cohort) so unfortunately I can't say I am sending you a heap of knowledgable AP'ers next year, I think you will only get 4 or 5 from us (we only have 6) but hopefully they will want to ge involved with the systems you have set up at Kelmy.

Looks excellent Mike. A feast befitting a king, it looks like.
Bet the principal was very proud of you too.
Did they like the taste of the trout? :)

Tim (Principal) had a great day, that's him in the floral apron at the FT managing all the fish preparation. He did all the trout side of things as my allergy gets to me if I handle much more than the catching

Did not hear one negative comment about the trout eating but there were plenty who went back for seconds and there was no fish left when they had finished eating. The cleaning and gutting was hilarious, kids loved it, especially when they found hydroton balls and pieces of gravel in the gut. It was quite the anatomy lesson, as you can see from the pics they certainly were not scared of getting amongst it.

This is fantastic to see Burnsie. Pinjarra HS has a great system also and the kids love it from all reports. Kids thinking outside the square has got to be great.

So inspirational. Hope we can spread more of this sort of experience around schools all over the world!!!!! Especially in areas where too many people think all food comes from the grocery store (and have never given any though to how the food gets too the grocery store.)

Having eaten meals that came at least partly from their own efforts in gardens and AP systems, these kids now know that they can grow their own food.
That is empowerment

Well done great job!
