I understand the pH and temperature but can some one please explain what you would use the other tests for?

I think TDS is salt.
Not certain but I think the others give an idea of things like nutrients etc. Mostly for hydroponics but maybe usefull to see if things are changing in the tank.

TDS = Total Dissolved Solids... "an expression for the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid which are present in a molecular, ionized or micro-granular (colloidal sol) suspended form."

Yep sorry got that wrong.

"Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) are the total weight of all solids (minerals, salts or metals) that are dissolved in a given volume of water, expressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L), or in parts per million (ppm). TDS is very important for osmotic regulation and hydration. If the TDS levels are not correct, your fish may not be able to properly cycle it's "drinking" and may experience dehydration or fluid loss via gills. "

For our purposes... (i.e osmotic regulation)... a salinity refractometer is a much more practical tool...

Not very many people would know how to interpret a TDS reading, particularly in relation to BOD.... let alone know what to do to address the situation...

Not sure if it is aqualined or not but could be a bargain price, my maths puts it a 8500L, Perth WA location.

That is a good size tank for $150. You could cut 400mm off the top for a grow bed and that would give you a 2000L GB and a 6000L FT....... not bad

If you want battery backup (12-16hrs)... then I'd go this one...
