Just interested if anyone has yabbies in an EPDM lined tank as I wondering if they would tear the liner?

I'm not sure if they would have any reason to try to damage the liner. I think I would be pretty scared of any yabbie that could pinch through EPDM liner, that stuff is pretty tough.

However, a tank lined with liner, is going to be rather easy for a yabbie to escape from since any folds in the liner will make it easy to climb out.

There should be no problem with using liner an d keeping yabbies. I've had them in very thin liner before and they were fine.

I think you need a lid for yabbies anyway ( If possible ),
I've watched mine climb the SLO, the air hose, pump hose, and pump power cable.
basically, if its there, they'll climb it, and get further then you expect

I currently have the yabbies in the bottom half of a fibreglass float tank and they cannot climb up the sides but I have witnessed one about to make an escape by crawling up the overflow pipe which I have put a sheet of glass over.
What I was concerned about was a few escaping from the float tank into my Fish pond, which is epdm lined I don't mind a couple being in there, they can take their chances with the fish and it would be good just to have some bottom feeders I just didn't want them chewing a hole through the liner

I will send some photos of my system when I work out how to do this and when I have time

Well here is my 1st effort for a photo upload
The picture is underneath the 5 bath tubs that are utilised as grow beds and below that is the old float tank now home to our yabbies

Critters that are known to chew through wood, can chew through any liner. Rats and termites can cew through liner though they do it from the dry side and the rats are not likely to chew below the water line since they are usually just looking for a place to nest.

I can't think of many animals that live in the water that are likely to damage the liner, at least not the thick EPDM. Thin plastic liners could be damaged by many things though.

Beavers might... but then you'd have more to worry about than just a hole in your liner...

LOL. Ya but beavers are such good workers they could build you a damn for your AP system so ya wouldn't need the liner!!!!!

I did have some marron in a lined pond that ate the liner where it folded

I have yabbies in alined tank which has folds and they haven't eaten a hole in it yet but as marron chew up airstones I wuoldn't trust them with a liner.

When I got some marron I was told that if they didn't have anywhere to hide they could "dig" there way through a fiberglass pool.
