Hum. I wouldn't think that 1 ppt of salt would hurt any plants provided you got the amount right. Same with the other things. Provided you dosed only a small amount it should all be fine. Did you spray the stuff on the plants or just add to the water? Sometimes foliar spraying of almost anything before a very sunny or hot day can burn plants.
I don't know, I have not had all that much luck with spinach in AP myself, what little I did manage to get to sprout, got eaten by critters.

I think the first couple of warm days might have burned the spinach.
I have pulled it out for now, may try some new ones later.
The peas and strawberries are doing OK and I am short on nutrient at the moment so should
all be good.

I really would like to get some silvers soon. I hope golden ponds has some?

I just spoke to Golden Ponds and they have about 100 silver perch around 2" long but
they want $4.90 ea for them. Is this normal price or is it just this time of the year????

Unfortunately my budget doesn't allow for that amount per fish.

Hmm... that's pretty expensive, I think. Close to the price of the goldfishes then.
Have you figured out why the 3 goldfishes died yet??

Have you done a water test laterly??

No Ivan not to sure why the 3 died. I hope it was something like stress from the move and not the water.
All the rest are doing fine.
I have done all the tests yesterday and they are as follows.

Temp: 17C
Amm: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10
PH: 7.4

Here are some photo's of the lined growbeds, new bath and IBC.

Tried to post pics of IBC but they are portrait and it wont upload.
I will take some more another day.

Hope there is some cheaper Silvers around soon otherwise it will be goldies or Koi all summer.

Looking good. Well if you will consider barra, apparently they are $3 each from Golden ponds. MDP has started a thread recently with visuals on their physical size.

Although you should keep the goldfishes separated from the Barra if you want to still keep them around.

Even $3 a fish is pricey. You wont get silvers until january probably.

Agree. Problem is fish stocks appear to be getting scarce... unless it is being talked up in this forum...

More a problem of the time the fish become available. Barra from mid winter!!! Silvers from late summer!!! It's all just wrong

The big question is, What is the answer??
How do we go about finding fish at the right time?
Is this going to become more of a problem as time goes on?

Well I don't think we can get them at the right time... we rely on the fish suppliers to provide fingerlings as they become available... unfortunately what that means is that if the water temperature aren't ideal, you will need to alternative means of keeping the fish in ideal conditions temporarily until water temperatures are suitable for growing in your main system. In other words, a temperature conditioned fingerling tank...

The reason for availability of Silvers late January... is that they're not spawned until November... and even by end of January... they're still quite small... and wont stack a lot of weight on before winter sets in...

That can be a problem in itself... with smaller fish dying...

If the hatchery leaves them in the pond through winter... they'll still not eat a lot... and even if available next year/ late spring... will still be quite small...

What's the answer... club together... and support the hatchery... if it's willing to support you...

Ask them to over-winter s couple of thousand... in tanks, inside a shed...

They'll grow more than pond based ones (depending on weather)... and should be 100+gms when we're ready to source them next spring... and have a chance to put some real weght on before the colder winter sets back in...

Thanks for that Rupe. I will look into arranging something.
Unfortunately I only have 1000ltr IBC fish tank so can't keep to many.

Also I currently have a small air pump rated at 360ltr per hour.
What is the output of the ones I can get from BYAP for $115.00

What a hot weekend.
Looks like just a taste of what is the come over the summer.

I planted some beans a while ago and they have over the last 2 weeks looked a bit sick.
The leaves are dieing and they are very dry.
It can't be possible that they are not receiving enough water, I am running running 45 - 15 flood and drain. Is it possible that they are too wet and rotting.
Here are some photo's my parsley is looking the same??? Any Ideas???
