$3 is cheap OBO, have PM from Tony and he wanted $10ea and when I told him I wanted 400 the boss dropped them to $8 :| but then they were in short supply, seems they found more, have emailed Golden Ponds to see what price they will give on 4 - 500 so will let you know, but I'm not sure that I can grow them here, I doubt the water will stay hot enough for long periods of time, may have to get some bigger silvers

Maybe a few of us could buy together to make the numbers and get bulk discount...

Nocky, at 400-500, I guess you already have a few people lined up??

Keep me informed on how you go with Golden Ponds. Certainly not up for big quantities since I have only a 1000L tank, but certainly happy to join in to make up the numbers.

As nocky said - it will be hard to get them to a decent size before the cold weather again, especially if paying so much for such small fish.

, Just rang for a price list, but had to leave a message. When they email that through to me, I will pass on the pricings and freight charges....

Well Golden Ponds have got back
Quote:
Thank you for your enquiry.

The cost of Silver Perch are 2" $4.90 ea. Barramundi 2-3" $3.00 ea.

For Silver Perch we could not provide such large a quantity of 400 - 500.

I doubt in Narrogin I could grow out Barra that size before April :| after seeing ricks progress with SP I feel a waste of time also, so the problem persists

I heard that Pete got Barramundi from challenger Tafe in Fremantle Friday. He said they were between 15 and 20 cm long for $4-00 each.
Silver Perch I have been told may be at golden Ponds, that was on the grapevine.

We were feeding them the wrong food Nocky - as soon as I got them onto a high protein feed all losses stopped.

I only lost one of the approx 100 SP I had in my 1000L system over winter, temps got down to probably 10deg in the tank, and sat pretty much at that for most of winter.

They look to have kept growing, all-be-it slowly, but now that the weather has warmed up they are really attacking the food, more so in the arvo when I get home.

I have just been feeding them on the same trout pellets, just ground up in a spice grinder (as the SP are so small).

When I got them last year they were really really small (~ 1 inch, maybe less), at a guess from what I can see, they might now be approx 2.5 inches, didn't grow much over winter, but they weren't too interested in eating that much. It will be interesting to see how much they grow this year, now that they are at least visible in the tank.

Nocky, do you know how Ricks have gone in his sump over winter?
