Hey guys :)

I've been asked to do a presentation on aquaponics on Thursday, and was wondering if anyone was willing to let me use some pictures of some small, neat systems, and also any good diagrams (I will put your name on anything used in the presentation if you wish)?

The DEH up here hold social information sessions once a month, and I am certainly no expert, but I have had my system going for 12 months now, and it has been quite successful, so I will just be talking about the basics of how aquaponics works, any problems and solutions I have found, and just basically spreading the word! :-)

Any help appreciated - It will be a powerpoint presentation.

Regards,
-Jos

Feel free to use any of my pics.
I'll see if I can find a couple from when my system used to look "neat".
Might send my folks along to give you some moral support.!
Good luck and have fun.

The single barrel/ twin tub system cost just about $48 and half a day to build.

Here's the info if anyone from round here wants to come :D

Friends,

oh happy happy days, the blessed time has again arrived!

Yes, that long-awaited and much anticipated and seriously most wondrous event is nearly here!! That's right, the next instalment of the world-renown ENVIRONMENTAL SEMINAR SERIES is on this Thursday!

Put this in your diary: THURSDAY 24th September at 4pm in the DEH / DWLBC meeting room (28 Vaughan Tce.) Berri.

Our next most excellent cab off the rank is an absolute must see. Kate Thorn and Jos Kelly have a magnificent double-bill act to amaze and astound audiences! This will be a cracker, mark my words.

Kate Thorn and Jos Kelly from Banrock Station present
- Turning Wine into Water
- Turning Water into Wine
- ...... and turning fish poo into strawberries!

As we always say, only a fool would miss such an opportunity, so obviously some of you won't make it.

There will of course be drinks at eminently reasonable rates. Non-fattening nibbles are provided gratis.

Cheers

I'm concerned about turning wine into water.
This does involve a biological processing peformed best by human livers, then I hope?

haha, just call me jesus :D

The Banrock Station site has A RAMSAR listed wetland, and proceeds from all wine sales go to environmental projects around the world. Kate Thorn is the Ranger Ecologist here, and the 'Wine into Water' is her bit, so i'm not sure exactly what it's all about.

I'm the vineyard supervisor at Banrock which has about 600 acres of vineyard, and will also be doing a presentation on a new sub-surface irrigation system that we're trialling here - thats the 'Water into Wine' bit. Although I think that will be brief, as i'll be more keen to get talking about the wonderful world of AQUAPONICS! :D

are you aware of how well vines grow in AP?
F&F has a good vine growing, and Mine's just taking off.

Indeed they do OB...

It is said that Grapes are water intesive crop... if there's not much rain the grapes suffer.
Combine this statement with the statistic that AP uses 10% the water that a dirt system does, and you have an interesting commercial application.
